Hi guys,

I'm starting on Uthgard with my Minstril friend and Infiltrator, to help them out, I'm thinking about making a Paladin.

The chants are nice and I would be going for a sword & board spec, but is it viable?

Will I even be able to solo (they are alot higher level than me right now) with sword & board?

I've read a bit around, that 2handers are barely usable due to the evasion and protection people have, and they are massivly slow :P

A tip on a spec would be neat as well :)

should be viable, but would not recommend solo'ing, because your damage output is just not very high. I am probably not the most qualified to comment on specs and it will depend on what your plan for lvl 50 is (rvr, pve) - but something like 50 shield, 44 chants, 39 weapon should be viable - or less weapon and a little more in parry (mainly thinking PvE there).

Mostly rvr, but it will be a bit before i will be able to do that.

As i read it, damage on 1 hander and shield is actually better, due to attack speed. But mostly I just want to take the damage and provide buffs.

But if it means that I wont be able to solo, then I need something else..

Is it possible to respec your character later? It's been a long time since i've played.

If you wanna play with your friends in RvR Paladin is not the way to go, then you should rather roll a minstrel or infiltrator as well.
Those are better for soloing anyway.
Paladin is a visible group char, but your friends play stealthers hence I do not see any overlap.

Basicaly I really want to use plate :) i've played arms before, and didnt find it satisfying, and my other mains have been cloths.

And if I grab a tanker spec, it doesent matter if i'm visible, we want to fight them anyways... :)

Tips? :)

Tip is, roll a stealther if u want to play with ur stealther friends in RvR. Dont ignore our support, u ll regred ur pala after realising u cant play with ur friends in RvR since u ll get ganked all the time.

He'll still get RPs until the release timer kicks in :D

Seriously, if you want to play with stealthers, roll one. If you want to keep the option of playing in visible groups too, then minstrel is the way to go. Alternatively, you can persuade your frineds to roll other chars with you, which has both the advantage of faster levelling and being able to farm money solo and farm good items in tajendi (pala can do both). Equipping a stealther is costly, so even if you change your mind later you are better of with a char that can actually gather the money required for a stealther template.
