Anyone have any tips on leveling a sorc on Uthgard? I know they are fantastic in pvp, but in pve they are a little frustrating.

Right now my sorc is 29 and its slow going. He is 24 mind/16 body (i think). I regret getting the ae emz so early as i dont get groups often enough to make ae mez a necessity yet.

so assuming i cant get a group (because it is a rare thing), what are the best options for solo?

1) charm a heal pet, nuke a couple times then melee. its slow, but reliable.

2) charm a tank pet, have it hold aggro for a bit, sneak in a few dots, then nuke it down near the end. replace pet as needed because pets heal slow here. can sometimes turn into kiting if you do too much dmg too soon. possibly the fastest of options, but still seems painfully slow.

3) charm a tank pet, dot/nuke the mob, kite, and have the pet beat on its back. pet wont get hit on uthgard, so it stays full health longer. kiting seems to also take forever. its plus or minus relable, but can sometimes result in some uglyness.

-----------------------
maybe i just havent played a true caster on uthgard yet. with power regen penalties one needs to stay above 50%, and minimize time spent in combat. but on the sorc i just havent found a way to kill anything fast.

my plan is to dump all my pts from leveling into body from here on out until at least im out of wilton. and hope that that improves. till then, i could use some tips on any good pets or camps that mighit speed things up.

Theres a couple of very strong pets, (theres a list somewhere) which make lvling a lot easier (talking about the nuking pets mainly). Thats why i would keep Mind on your lvl, to always be able to charm a mob of the same lvl.

Sorta along those lines, can someone explain how sorc charm works on Uthgard compared to live? Ive heard mixed messages about uthgard charm success being bugged and requriing higher mind spec.

Livelike has spec break points where each charm works up to a maximum mob level (obviously also capped at your own level).
the break points for each charm being:
12 mind = max lvl 29 pet
20 mind = max lvl 40 pet
32 mind = max lvl 50 pet

because along those lines, the best pets for leveling could be had with as little as 20 mind for most levels. One would only need to spec higher mind above lvl 40 (also note that you get a free respec at lvl 40).

----------------------
From my minstrel, the best pets I've seen:
1) Arawnite shameness (lvl 34-35). Heals for 75 per cast, also buffs group (str, con, af, and haste), also has a godly DOT. so if i can manage to get to lvl 34, one of them could last me for quite a few levels.
2) Ellyll windchaser (lvl 47-48). Heals for 118 per cast, also has a decent ice dd (200-250 per cast).
3) Priestess (~40-42). ae smites, does not heal, buffs yellow specs (with no spec bonus so they are actually only abotu as good as blue specs).

Are there any other particuarly choice pets for a sorc?

Other Pets im curious about:
4) Priest of Arawn in Lyonnesse? They are lvl 49-52ish I think, and smite a whole lot. I dont nkow if they heal. Ive never charmed one on my minst.
5) Are there any good pets in dartmoor I should keep an eye out for?

If you know german, I recommend this thread.. Same topic: How to level a sorc.

http://uthgard.net/index.php?option=com ... 10&t=21976

Here's the spec I recommended for solo lvling. I think you get the idea without translating the few german words in there..

Lvl 5 - Alles in Mind --> Mind 5/Matter 1 --> Pom1

Lvl 10 - Alles in Matter --> Mind 5/Matter 8 --> Dots, Dot-Varianz

Lvl 11 - Alles in Mind --> Mind 7/Matter 8 --> Charm 11-20

Lvl 19 - Alles in Matter - Mind 7/Matter 17 --> 16er Dot und erster Snare DD

Lvl 21 - Alles in Mind --> Mind 12/Matter 17 --> Charm 21-30

Lvl 23 - Alles in Mind --> Mind 15/Matter 17 --> Pom2

Lvl 29 - Alles in Matter --> Mind 15/Matter 24 --> 23er Dot und zweiter Snare DD

Level 32 - Alles in Mind --> Mind 20/Matter 24 --> Charm 31-40

Going on with Matter till 40, then respec to your desired Body/Mind-Specc..

Thanks, Google Translate works wonders. It may not get the grammer or wording perfect, but it does more than enough to understand the general meaning.

I didnt see any pet tips there, but I was certainly surprised to see matter listed as the preferred spec. A friend of mine tried a matter sorc here and absolutely hated it.

At level 30, I am more or less committed to my mind/body split. but I would definitly recommend to future uthgard sorcs to not spec high mind until 40+. The benefit of the better ae mez is lost outside of the battlegrounds, and having higher dps seems to be the controlling factor in pve. Either mostly body or mostly mind seems to be the answer to make leveling more tolerable. I just wish respecs didnt cost so much plat here.

Well, the main goal of speccing mind for leveling purposes is the ability to charm mobs at your level.. And matter is more power efficient since you get a specc dot, which also reduces you base dot's variance..

There is a link in this thread, but be aware that many mobs don't work the same way they did on live.

Did they fix the bug that you could only charm pets with mind on the level of the pet you wanted to charm? If not, having mind below level results in very weak pets. And as i said, theres a couple of extremly strong pets that make lvling a lot easier (f.e. Wind Mephits)

Weird, why is that? .. Or is that some special Uthgard-bug?

Sorc charm is a bit bugged, yes.
It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.
