ANIMIST!

Can any admin please settle this duspute, im confused, and it seems a lot of the realm is also! What is this MYTH about creeping spec Animists?
People are telling me that CREEP uses less mana, how is this possible? As i understand it, a spell always costs a set value of mana, there is no way to reduce it other than using the appropriate focus level. an example. A lvl 50 sorc, full mind spec, casting the BASE LINE LT vs a lvl 50 sorc, full body spec, casting the very same BASE LINE LT. Regardless of spec, the cost of the spell is fixed. Speccing higher into a line does not reduce mana cost of baseline spells, or ANY other spell for that matter. (Granted- spec spells are usually cheaper in themselves). So where does this idea come from? I would like to see some hard tests done to prove this, if it is the case, and an official statement from the Admins confirming or disproving this. Im really interested to find out whats going on, i mean, one guy told me (in his own words) that speccing in creep lowers its mana use per FnF the higher you spec. This doesn't sound right, and it goes against all i thought i knew of daoc. Please dont reply and say ''yes its true!'' without proving it with date if you can, lets see some logs, or comparative tests. same lvl, same stats for int and power pool etc, same levels of focus. |

Power costs of a spell are fixed yes but..
the keyword is focus. Without focus you need 120% of the power value. With focus of same skill lvl or higher its 80%. Ok sounds basiclly the same for both cases in the sorc case. But then focus only works full up to the lvl of skill in this line + rr + boni. So a full mind sorc will have a body skill of 40-47 as example (with rr/items) and so you don't get the full use of focus and burn more power on a lvl 50 Spell. Spells with same or lower lvl of skill will have full focus though. But for the lvl 50 lifeleech skill is too low for full focus so youll burn smth between 81%-120% of the value. body sorc has 50+ body skill, 50 body focus -> 80% power cost. No proofs, but this is how it always worked since i can remember. Fabienne - Blademaster

As for the mana-issue I can say it's true. Without focus I get out 15 shrooms with my mana, with focus I can build up to 21 shrooms. Thats a significant plus imo. (notice the Animist I tested it with is only mid-lvl) But it doesn't depend on the spec, as every Animist could take a creeping/all focus staff. Focus overall only reduces your baseline's skills mana cost. Whats so great about Creeping Path then, you might ask. Well it's a great path for both PvE and Battlegrounds. You get dam-reduce pets, absorb-debuff, ae-root and as you have a higher creeping skill, your forest heart's dmg is constant and significantly higher. Also your matter-debuff-and-dmg wisps dmg is pretty decent and really nice for bg) Especially as arbor's dd-wisps and verdant's pet-pbae isn't working as intended (int is not affecting the dmg, which it should) creeping is a very solid choice for PvE. I for a person am thinking about mixing Creeping and Verdant at 40+ to get a higher utility for PvE. However if you plan on PvP a lot (which will give you a hard time with the current state of bugs and spells), go for arbor and be a lifeleecher.
Hope everything I said is correct and helped you out. Criticism and correction greatly welcome. |

Is there any incoming patch to fix out the int with wisps ?

Unfortunately not. I think int bonus won't be taken into account for bombers without correct pet pathing, which as far as I an tell is not that easy to implement and not very high on the priority list due to OF revamp, OLD RA etc.

i´m a bit confused what is int affected and whichs spells are not working at all? there are more rumors about animists then water in the oceans ...

Works well imo.
All bombers are lacking the int-based damage component. Also, all bombers, including those that don't do damage, put you in combat mode twice appearantly.
Lacking int dmg component as well, but I'm not quite sure why as it's not affected by the lack of pet pathing.
Seems fine to me. Don't know if int(ae) buffs are supposed to have an effect on that or not, but in general buffs on pets is a chapter for itself I guess. |

According to staff its not because pet pathing doesn't work, its just a bug. |

Maybe isn't the way we use through an animist to enjoy a little fun in RvR but i am proud of my class and would be so pleased to spend time in rvr as i do with farm but the fact is none anymore use to group animist class and this become really hard to get couple of rps even if realm tasks remain. I would like to point out that animist is a versatile and an amazing class even able to give the shoot to success ! So please, regarding the wonderful job you have done with Uthgard server, leave a chance to Animists to proove they can be decent players even in rvr by fixing that int lack.
