I am not sure if it could have anything to do with 2h... but it makes sense about being because of some patch. I remember well that I noticed a clear sudden drop in bow performance by the time that mythic came up with that absurd new archery. After that it was never the same again.

Anyway... I think I will give up. The way things are developing lately shows a WAAAAY different focus of priorities for the server, so I guess this will not be looked into any time soon if at all, which means that a sniper focused has little use out there. Besides, I have built an archer to place it on walls and shoot what is outside or place it 2000+ outside and shoot what is on walls and since we have little of that in old frontiers, even more useless. Maybe respeccing to full melee or moving to Hib and try a 50 bow 50 PF ranger, but I really want to stay in Alb.

@Rufus: Find bugs and report them.

Suppose that B is a half-ogre MELEE FOCUSED armsman (slash spec line, RAs, str, blah blah blah)
Is it not logical to presume that A should attack with BOW as efficiently as B attacks with an axe? Ignoring the rupting for A or the speed of bow, just plain performance, is it not reasonable?

No its not. Because Armsmen dont have stealth and ranged attacks. For the same reason, caster wear cloth armor rather than plate.

When you are the opponion that the lower bow damage in comparsion with e.g. two-handed melee weapons don't correspond to the advantages of stealth, simply play an armsmen in solo RvR.

And very important: On live back in 200X every one was fully buffed by a buffbot with dex values of 350+. On Uthgard even for a ranger speccec 48 PF, 320 dex is maxumim without RAs. So you need AugDex 4 to come close to the damage on live.

My Ranger on live had over 400 dex. So I sure wouldn't expect to get anything close to the same damage numbers here, nor be able to shoot a slow bow as fast. On live shooting speed is based on dex. I had a Scout in the old days with that same spec with only 15 thrust. I knew I was dead if an assassin found me. You had to be patient for the right targets. But then the server had 3000k people logged on, so there were more visible solos in the frontier, and more newbs without templates. AMG was a zerg fest. People call it zerg here, but its not even close to that compared to when I used to play Albion. Friar was my main back then and I never solo'd that one in the frontier. That's what my Scout was for.

But I am not comparing bow performance of Uthgard with current Live, I know that both are intended to be WAY different. I am comparing UTHGARD'S bow damage NOW with UTHGARD'S bow damage of the PAST. That is, what it IS with what it WAS in Uthgard, not Live. All unbuffed vs unbuffed (a dex potion at best). I mentioned Mythic to specify the momment in which I notticed the sudden change: about the time that the New Archery came. With this I meant that patching the patch with that New Archery COULD have something to do with the drop of performance. For instance, if you look at Charplan on the archery line for all archers, it clearly says pre-set values of damage for the "standard shot" and all other kinds of shots (including the ones of the old archery), who knows how patching all that can effect the old archery? Can you simply make old archery work by just disabling magic shots and some other things? Would this BE old archery? or just an EMULATION of it? Look at this FAQ  "tecnical hurdles"? Myabe they managed to find a problem that our stafflers have not yet. Why, is it not EXACLY what Uthgard tries to do, put old archery back while running new archery patch?

But maybe it has nothing to! In this case, forget it then, nevermind. But one thing I am certain of: bow damage WAS GOOD and suddently GOT BAD and there was not a word about it on the change logs, so one can only suppose that it was not intended.

By the way...

for their luck they do not have ranged attack! else they would be rupted with every level 1 pet.
