This thread contains combat logs between a Ranger and a Hunter posted on 07/2003. The logs were made to compare melee ability between the two classes in a total of 9 fights. The Ranger states that both characters are full-buffed by a bot for half of the fights, self-buff only for the other half. The Ranger also states that he has capped melee resists. Based on that (and the time period of the test) we can assume both characters are templated with level 50 or 51 armor. The Hunter's Avatar was only buffed by the Hunter himself (str/con). The bot did not buff the pet. Here are the highlights: Minimum pet damage: 71(-19) Minimum pet damage with ablative proc: 47(-25) [46 damage is absorbed by the ablative] Maximum pet damage: 114(-30) Here are some notes from the thread: The great Wyrd himself states that the Hunter pet should halve enemy evade rate. Another Hunter claims that he tested this and found that it only works if the pet attacks from the front arc. Another tester lists the growth rates for some spear styles Perforate - .67 growth (.63 on Uthgard) Razor Edge - .78 growth (.71 on Uthgard) Odin's Wrath - .88 (.83 on Uthgard) Thoughts?

Everything staff needs to complete hunter imho, there´s almost no way to question that information.

The Hunter had a 10% damage bonus from strength relics. I don't know if this transfers to the pet.

The day Hunter's pet gets fixed is the day VW and Nature's Shield gets fixed.

I hope not.
To fix Hunter pet damage based on these logs you only need to calculate its base damage and then change a number in Uthgard's database. Lower that by 20% to account for the pet buff. Congratulations. You now have as close to classic Hunter pet damage as we could ever hope to get. Nature's Shield requires implementing an entirely new feature.

Had to laugh. This is not how it works. The hunter pet is like any other pet a simple mob and their damage formula (or better lets say Weaponskill) is just messed up. There will be no extra workaround for hunters. You will see a correct damage after the Mob/Pet WS formula is corrected AND buffs are effective on pets It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

So testing has been done to prove that summoned pets are not on special damage tables and are "simple mobs" like you said?
Does the damage shown in the logs here match with your own testing for a level 41 mob on live? If so then I look forward to my Hunter pet doing 4x the damage it currently does on Uthgard. Is that what your testing has shown? Because that is what these logs prove.

Blue, could you comment on the difference in growth rates, please?

Uthgard used a different source for growthrates. We wouldnt take the highest growthrate from different sources found in the net. Growthrates can also be tested on live. This page lists again other growthrates: http://de.daocpedia.eu/index.php/Speer I think everybody tests growthrates different so you cant compare that. It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

Blue, thank you for your response. I understand why you don't want to take some random GR off the internet for use on Uthgard, but there are some points I'd like to bring to your attention.
First, it is now impossible to test growth-rates on live because of the many style changes made by Mythic. Second, the style growth rates for Spear on Uthgard do not follow a logical progression. For example: The Hunter's standard RvR any-time chain is Engage (6 spec / .59 GR / Taunt) -> Wounding Thrust (15 spec/ .80 GR / Snare). The Hunter's rear-style chain is Razor Edge (39 spec / .71 GR/ 5s Stun) -> Odin's Wrath (44 spec / .83 GR/ No effect). Because Odin's Wrath lacks a special effect it is obvious this style is intended to be a high damage follow-up to the stun from Razor Edge. However, Odin's Wrath has only .3 more GR than Wounding Thrust. On Uthgard, there is no noticeable damage increase between Wounding Thrust and Odin's Wrath, and yet Odin's Wrath is supposed to be the Hunter's highest damage style. A similar comparison can be made with Engage and Razor Edge. The difference in GR between the styles is so small that the damage increase is barely noticeable. Normal damage variance often results in Engage -> Wounding Thrust having GREATER damage than Razor Edge -> Odin's Wrath. This often makes positioning for a back-style a futile and counter-productive effort for the Hunter, because the any-time chain can be spammed for roughly the same amount of damage. The 5 second stun is often purged, or simply does not offer enough advantage to compensate for the Hunter's weakness in melee. A similar comparison can be made with the Hunter's side-chain, Perforate (21 spec / .63 GR / Slow) -> Gungnir's Fury (50 spec / .82 GR / Moderate Bleed). The chain offers no real damage benefit over the any-time styles, and any benefit from its special effects is off-set by the difficulty of landing the style chain as well as the high cost of Gungnir's Fury (50 spec). Uthgard's growth rates for the Engage chain match very closely with other sources on the net. However, the growth rates for the positional styles do not. This cannot be a coincidence.

I can only tell you that Uthgard growthrates came from one single source which was tested by one person that time. Mixing different sources with different test approaches is not the right solution.
Also you cant just compare growthrates. The Utility of styles is made of penaltys and bonuses. Zippity once made a list of growthrate sources. http://talsyra.tripod.com/daocmechanics ... owths.html We could change all styles to use these listed GR. OT: Btw found interesting page which I didnt know yet http://daoc-research-wiki.wikispaces.com (http://daoc-research-wiki.wikispaces.com/Daimar_Def_Pen ![]() It's done when it's done. This is the german bugreport thread about it:
http://uthgard.net/index.php?option=com ... grothrates This is a comparison on Uthgard GRs and these sources, which should be identical: http://talsyra.tripod.com/daocmechanics ... tyles.html http://breas.fc2web.com/CSGR.htm http://web.archive.org/web/200510101417 ... le=midgard <- link doesnt work anymore :-/ ![]() |

Ok as multiple sources hint on the higher rates we should adjust.

I just adjusted the spear style line to listed values.
