is there anypoint in me contunuing this class? It seems the only way to be effective and gain some Rp is melee spec, but i love bow so much. I aim for hybrid spec 35 bow, wut with OF RA system, this will hit my class hard. give up now and roll a visi 8man toon? :S

Get it rdy. Make some rps now with nf ra and when old ra you got some rr to perform ok. It's not like you won't be able to kill anything with old ra.

Starting an 8man toon beside you ranger is not a bad idea tho. 8vs8 is so much more fun then solo

Why ? If you ever stepped into emain you'd know that majority of the groups are pugs in fact.

And if you ever followed the killmsgs u d know that they are farmed by set guild grps.

Which don't exist on uthgard. Unlike you I don't follow killmsgs, I actually play in emain and yeah there's actually very few high rr guild groups (0 actual set groups) who will kill pugs easy, and (believe it or not!!!!!!!) they're not running every day 24/7.

Stick with your ranger. Im a hybrid spec with 35 bow, 39 pierc, 18 cd .... and my bow does help if used right. I would never spec full or full melee, i like the utility of hybrid. And full bow is impossible when old ra's come and full melee ... well just doesnt feel like an archer. When i was leveling up, i stayed with full melee, so i could get all the auto training points and bow spec at lower lvls is not as noticeable as it is when you get to a higher level. Well the damage vs spec with bow at 50 is not too great, because of the large variance, but you will do fine with 35-40 bow with hybrid.

Old ra will make thing difficult, mostly vs assassins. So you will have to stay safe when camo is down and try to avoid assassin hot spots , unless you group up. Get your levels and RR ASAP before OF RA's come. You can also make an alt group char on the side also, but dont give up a class you want to play.

I was thinking of weapon spec at 34 and a little higher CD, still toying around with it but i think i need to get sloid how much PF i want before i'll know for sure.

At 50, a spec of 34 weapon is do able. The damage diff between 34 and 39 was like 3-5 extra style damage for a ranger. I went with 39 for the second pierc side style. For PF at 50. I would go with a min of 40, but 42 is even better for the highest AF buff. If you can get to 46 (9.3 DPS DMG Add) or 48 (highest D/Q buff) it also helps, but does come at a cost. You may have to drop stealth, bow, or melee to a little lower then what you want, to achive higher PF. But in my many many many diff spec, it was not really worth it, for hybrid spec. My fav specs so far is.

rr5
39 pierc
18 cd
35 bow
42 pf
33 stealth

39 pierc
21 cd
35 bow
40 pf
34 stealth

or

34 pierc
21 cd
40 bow
40 pf
34 stealth

If youd like more CD spec with hybrid, you can try this.

34 pierc
29 cd
35 bow
40 pf
33 stealth

But try what ever you think youl like. One spec may work for one person, but not for others. So give it a try, when you get to 50 and see what you like. More importently, get IP2 and at least purge 1 (time the purge). For other RA's, focus on melee RA's, since bow RAs will be totally useless if your shots gets blocked or you get intruppted and never get to use your bow. And most targets, youl get maybe 3 shots in. MoPain 2 is nice to have also, along with some Physical defense and toughness. Longwind 1 is nice for assisting in kiting. MoS 2 or higher is best to go with, id go with 2 or 3. Anything higher is wasteful i think, unless your a high rank.

pug rvr is no option if you wanna have fun....

Yup, pretty sure and I play smallman vs smallman and fg pug vs pug almost every day. Don't confuse pick up group with all noob group or all 4L2 group. There's no rule saying that everyone in a pug is low rr or noob. Every time I play in pugs with people ranging from rr4 to rr9-10. The fact that you can't win with randoms is because either you or they (or both) are bad at this game but that doesn't mean every pug is as dysfunctional. Not like guild groups are anything special here when it comes to skill, the only difference is they have a higher average rr than pugs usually do.
