poisoned weapons for other players

Is this right, u just apply from inventory, no need to equip it but maybe the game checks if u have skill in it and u cant apply on a weapon u cant use. |

@Blue & @Trishin
A carrot was held out to the online community many years ago, the community responded, and we are here in every post, thread and topic. We are grateful for what you have achieved and the time you all have sacrificed. Over the years the carrot has changed color, size and shape. Some changes for the good, others not. Some changes need to be made, and exploits are a derivative of bugs or issues in balance. With that being said, Zarkor is not alone in his frustration. Some changes are needed for the most logical problems, uthgard like or resembling live like. Poison is being abused, that is logical, i.e see baman video... Bow procs is something that is on live, has been over a year and still does not work on uthgard. Cross-realming-- Giveing out intel on relic raids... These are just to name a few. As you all know the list goes on, some frustration is due to the fact that time is being spent on Old RA's while bugs still have not been resolved first... On top of some new ones that may or may not happened with old RA's. And the community as a whole will expect changes/fixes with the old RA's as they go live... Most if not all, feels as tho that staff has spent so much time countering the many QQ over the years that they fail filter what is a real issue and what is just a QQ. And here we are now at the "Uthgard DAOC rehab Center" because you "the staff" opened shop. Why do you guys put 10 pounds of blow on the coffee table lobby, then tell us how we should react or not react, and censorship our reactions is wrong. Some thing of course need to be filtered...Players flaming players in verbal profanity etc.. Bottom line, Is this a community of like minded players with staff leading it? Or is it purely Uthgard/Staff sandbox and everyone has to deal with it. This is the war that is raging on these forums... |

The reason i said about the weapon, is that i thought the assassin had to have the melee weapon equipped first, to apply a poison to it. Which if still true, then 2H weapons and a few other ones could not be poisoned. Which would exclude some classes. A few could still apply the poison to a 1h weapon that could be equipped, with no spec into it though. But would have to face swinging with little to no spec, for that bonus of poison.
Also, we should be careful to not to blame the staff for the delays of fixes or ignoring or the belief of them ignoring a problem. When you upset someone, like a staff member, it could just lead to fighting, and then nothing getting done. If there is a bug or your agenst to fixing a discussed issue. Then post your reason, and not be posting about staff being lazy, or ignoring the problem. Or focusing your post to attack someone, who is posting to support something you don't. Post your reasons on the issue, not the people. Like the issue about bow procs, it has been a known problem for 4 years or longer, and still is one. In the past i do admit in such topics it made me also get angry at the staff, for such delays. But now i see that its not worth it to go off on them, as it will not get it fixed faster. So all i can say is i hope it gets worked on soon and give my reasons why it should be fixed. But its understandable why people would get upset and blame the staff. Its human nature to do so, but hopefully they will try and hold there tongue for a bit longer, give reasons to fix something or agenst a change, and thats all. |

Dear Staff,
1.) Thank you for your work and also for the increased activity on the forums as of late. 2.) Please do not ever encourage and promote the idea that something will be changed and/or acknowledged only if a player speaks directly to you. Even no changes EVER would be better then for people to get the idea that it's only through personal connections, player-staff friendships and lobbying that things get done here. I don't believe that is currently the case, but even a false impression that things work like that could (and will) prove incredibly damaging. |

Maybe in a few more bug posts, I get subdued like you Eclipse. I'm getting to old worry about people I don't know. Blue and Trishin are adults, they can take care of themselves, if they have issue, I have no doubt they will speak there mind. Know one should fear another. Fear is a means of dictatorship, I don't think the staff is making that point. I don't know why you follow it. Uthgard is a small part of my life, there are other things I do in my life. This game is not the end all for me.
Worry about yourself, I will worry about myself. |

Very valid argument. Same applies to speccing buffs on buff classes in relation to buff bots. It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.
Every bug gets fixed. Sooner or later. "It is an inescapable law of nature that the amount of satisfaction one gains from achieving something is related to how hard it is and easy things can only elicit a fleeting superficial sort of pleasure." Blue says, "you used macro tools or macro keyboard" Pala says, "i am disabled. and i have a mechanic left hand that can be programed. its hard to play woith one hand" [Appeal] Bxxxxxxxx: "why is RA first aid cann man i stealth use and not unstealth cann man ra if man use unstealth ?????????" BannedUser: "i was not using automate game action my hand was fall on keyboard during i was sleep .... i was completly fall on keyboard ..." |

Yup, this is actually worse than I thought at first since once this is out in the open as public knowledge, nothing stops players from actually using this more and more not to request things backed up by arguments and reasoning but simply to complain and demand over and over and over again until the load gets too heavy to bear as a GM. It could backfire hard, really hard I guess. Having open discussions about topics and letting people know about them while moderating irrelevant QQ and flames is imo still the only way to go. People need to be aware of what is talked about and should have the chance to participate in the debate at any time. In defense of truth-to-experience.

Yep. There is a reason in dark age, where spec points limit a player, to what they can and can not have. For example, if i spec 40 PF on my ranger, and 40 bow, and 34 melee. I get decent buffs, along with semi high bow and normal melee spec. But i could spec for like 48 PF for the best buffs, but if you do that, you suffer the lost of the bow spec and melee spec. So the gains i may get from my higher buff line, may actually not benefit me as much, as now my bow and melee spec may have been dropped enough to where my damage is about the same or even lower. So if i could have a buffbot, i could drop PF to nothing and jack up my Melee and Bow to great value with high buffs. This takes away the limits of my spec points, related to requiring buffs on a ranger by design. Even an assassin could find away to get a poison bot to have max poisons, and no envenom spec. By just carrying extra weapons. Its more work, but those points saved could make a huge diff in that classes design and performance. And the effects on non poison classes or non buffing classes is that. Poison and buffs for those who spec for it, spec for it at a cost to other performance. While this poison sharing, or the situation with excessive pot/charge buffing gives someone benefit with no cost. Maybe cost in money or some time, but when you fight someone, it has no cost to your performance, except benefit. |

On live you need to equip weapons in order to poison them. Unless you could poison your weapons in your inventory back in 1.69, this should be fixed because it is a custom feature (it's like that on all freeshards afaik) that makes assassin lives much easier.
|
|
This is wrong or changed in some recent patches. When I play on classic live with Version 1.8x, it was possible to poison weapns from the inventory with my nightshade. ![]() ![]() |
|
It's not wrong, that is how it is on live and has been for at least 4 years. As to weather it was changed or not there should be some patch notes or something.
|
|
In 1.85 when I played classic on live you need to wield the weapon - so maybe after that but then it's irrelevant for the Uthgard setting.
Uthgard till 2003!

|
I guess you meant "didn't need".
|
|
2 Envenom would be enough. There are rr11 Infs/SBs who spec 29 in Env cause they don't need more, so they would be *******d xD |

Changelog: March 22, 2011
Bye Bye poison botting and non envenom poisoning. Hopefully the update will work and not cause issues for assassins, like a bug resulting from it. |
