Classes to Avoid

My brother and I are trying to decide on 2 chars to play, as we are new to Uth. We are looking for characters that are both PvE viable and RvR wanted/viable in small groups/8v8. They don't have to make a perfect duo, as we wont be doing much duo RvR once we reach 50. To make this easier on us and quick, I'd like to ask this simple question:
Which classes on Alb should we completely avoid playing? (Due to coming RA changes and mechanics/Current class situation) Any suggestions and input would ROCK@! Ty, Deladian |

Avoid:
-armsman (2h sucks with no defense penetration; you will find people blocking, evading and parrying your hits a lot on uthgard which is only more frustrating the slower your weapon is) -paladin (2h not even an option since you HAVE to have slam and red endu regen to be useful and the only tank/hybrid with absolutely no worthy damage output due to that, loses determination and anger of the gods if old realm abilities come) -reaver (loses determination if old realm abilities come, debuff auras should rupt again if patch limit changes but not really worth grouping a melee class with no det) -friar (melee/healing hybrid with more focus on heals and buffs in group, hard to play in group, underrated and generally not wanted because people usually look for dps instead of a 3rd healer/buffer, becomes worse with old realm abilities by losing vehement renewal realm ability and a nice rr5, suffers from nerfed heals if patch limit changes) -minstrel (decent group realm abilities with both old and new realm abilities, it's primary role as heavy rupter is hard to fulfill on uthgard with it's not exactly livelike rupting mechanism, generally unwanted in groups for the same reason as friar as people rather get damage dealing classes) -wizard (absolutely no group utility, bolts being the only good thing about wizards on live are bugged here; low damage, high miss rate - with no indication of planning on bolts ever being fixed) Think that sums it up, apologies if I missed anything. Minstrels with SoS will be very good in RvR Groups - absolutly no char to avoid
![]() If you want to duo then go for Sorc+Clerc or Merc+Clerc. Uthgard till 2003!

Minstrels have sos now on a 3 times faster cooldown timer and with cc immunity. Old sos is overrated since you can still be mezzed. Wouldn't pick a class just for a single realm ability once every 30 minutes.

Minstrel will be a must-have with OF Ras - demezz, Sos, Speed, interrupt (melee, dds, instant stun), some melee damage; there really isn't any way around it imho. So no, no reason to avoid minstrels. You may want to stay clear of Reavers, perhaps armsman (because there is a limited number of slots for melees in an Alb Group and those usually are filled with Mercs and a pally). Oh, and Friars of course, unless you prefer to play solo or in small groups.

What about cabbie? Was cabby complete junk with old RAs? How do they perform in rvr and how needed are they?

Well, trispec cabba wont work with oldRAs cause of high resistrate cause of missing MoF.

lol I guess I can't win with class selection. If its not a healer, buffer, or tank...I'm up a creek without a paddle.
How do the other casters fair? Or is the old RA system pure tank friendly and leaves casters in the dust? Theurg? Thats another class I'd love to play. Other than that, all the class that are interesting and unique are bust with "new" old RAs. |

Old RAs are caster friendly, no charge, (nearly) no purge, RAs to higher your castspeed, ...

I think ice wizard with old VP and surprise attack can be a quite intersting idea.

Speed - not needed that much demezz - I would rather take a 2nd sorc SoS - 30 minute timer, not really needed Interrupt - LOL not working. some melee dmg - let's say a WARDEN does more, that says it all So as an alb group in OF you can avoid minstrels all together, in fact as an alb group in OF you can reroll or quit.

Woot if the alb grp is played well its superior to every hib / mid setup. Can't see why interupt should not work, since blue changed it and it works by now. Sure he does 0 damage, but still he is a nice rupter and why do you never talk about the best minstrel skill -> Red pet -> close to not cc able with casts -> interupts moc -> awesome =) Also speed 6 makes mezzing sooo much easier for sorc, and thats what old RA is all about =) |
