I thought about making a little Hero. But I can't decide what race I should take..

Luri: Would be nice block-bot, but I guess not very interessting in RvR
Bolg: 50 Spear 50 Shield rest Parry = Dmg? Or is the spear-dmg too low?
Celt: Boring Celt, but good alrounder, can do any spec
Shar: Loooots of hitpoints and looks awesome, but too low on dex and Quick (?)
Sylvan: My favourite race. I think it looks great. Good start-resists and good str, so dmg-spec would be nice. But shieldspec too?

I'd like to go 50 Spear, 50 Shield, rest Parry, but maybe I switch to 1-hand spec after a while.

What race would you recommend? I think about making a Sylvan, but I fear the disatvantages.

Any tips?

Thanks, Fin

I d go for Firb, since best DMG. Block chance is just marginally dependend on dex on Uth asfaik.

Hibernian Spear damage is entirely STR based, so a Bolg is an advantage, if anything. For me, Celt would be the way to go I was undecided on the final spec or wanted to play Def with the option of assisting the MA, occasionally. Most druids and bards are celts, as are many tanks, so you blend in somewhat better, but that is prolly less of an issue against capable enemy groups.

Don't worry much about block chance, you with 50 shield you'll block a lot no matter what race you pick. Go for the best race for damage output, which would be Firbolg > Sylvan > Shar > Celt. Wouldn't consider a lurikeen hero ever unless you plan on soloing (lol) where defensive stats matter just as much.

or you plan to be a very decent blocker. because yes there is a difference between firbolg blockrate and lurikeen blockrate that you can feel.

i would suggest firbolg for an offensive hero and lurikeen for a defensive one, and youre done.

Why would anyone make a hero just for blocking ? There's a difference but only when you're in an opportunity to block. Difference in damage dealt is a lot more noticeable because you're ALWAYS hitting someone as a tank, doesn't matter what purpose (unless you find a hero bad enough who'll just guard and slam ). Making a lurikeen hero over firbolg or even sylvan is gimping your 2h style damage by an average of ~100 per hit to have slightly more block chance, which is ridiculous.

Since theres a block-dex hardcap of 250 dex Firby is best. When i remember right.

Not sure if it applies to uthgard, but for sure you profit more from str as a hero.

And don't forget slam/snare > guard. So if you can kill a target while snaring even better :)

Mh okay, all in all Firbolg seems to be most decent for my plans then.

BUT as I said before, my fav race is Sylvan.

I just checked Herald for Heros and I can see no Sylvan-hero on the first page and only 2 or 3 on the second page lol.

My question: Why?

Because of useless int? Because of too low str compared to Firb? Because of Racism? xD

I think about making Sylvan, but I'm still not sure^^

Bolg or Sylvan - go!

PS: Thanks for the answers =)

I just can tell what I've seen: Luris block much better.
If this is right, its a valid argument to chose luri hero.

I play very often in Caster Groups like this: B D D HERO Ench Eld Ment, last slot preferably Ment/Animist
so this is a hard-caster group, no hybrid ****** or w/e.

Imo you dont need to hit hard (2 Ments+Ench+Eld sometimes... yeaaaahDMG) in this kind of setup and are more useful with better blocks/being harder to be targetted as the only Tank.

But all in all I like Firbolg the most, just fits the best :)

I like how you chose to reply to me completely ignoring everything I wrote. Luris don't block much better. Any tank with 50+x shield and moblock 3 will reach the absolute block cap and a little more dex means absolutely nothing then. The high dex a lurikeen provides is primarily if you choose to solo for better parry and evade.

I guess I stay on Sylvan.

Imho I don't see a huge difference between Bolg and Celtblock (I never saw a Lurihero blocking, so...).

Bolg might do more dmg cause of 20 more str, but no Sylvan Hero on the first Page. I want to be the first xD.

Thanks to the answers, you may discuss further, maybe I'll change my mind :D

Good choice, you'll be satisfied with Sylvan I'm sure.

The only real reason I see to go any other race (Firbolg) would be to maximise your damage output regardless of the rest.
In defense of truth-to-experience.
