Hello Uthgard.
I started playing DAoC about a year before SI was brought out by Mythic. I left official servers when ToA was introduced. I resumed playing when i had a job several years ago and started on DAoCPortal about 3 years ago. I havent played for nearly a year and since then, I have been given a new laptop.. This laptop is Windows 7 Professional, and (thankfully) is much more powerful than the old Dell Inspiron!! What Have I Done?: - I have downloaded and installed DAoCPortal.exe - I downloaded it a few weeks ago, but have since updated it (with the auto-update when Portal starts). - I open it to Run As Administrator and have patched it with my copy of DAoC - My copy of DAoC was downloaded from Mythic with the 14 day free trial. (LotM?) All so far is as I remember doing when last using DAoC Portal. The Problem: - When I choose a server, and enter a username & password to login to the game (and press 'Play!'), the laptop turns to blue screen (But it is NOT the blue screen of death (or it is not the blue screen of death that I have seen elsewhere with Windows XP)). The only way out of this is to restart the laptop. There is no damage done when I do this, besides the loss of hair I am getting! ![]() I have used the forum search tool, and I have trawled the last few pages in the hope of finding the answer. I have not found anything. I have listed as much info as I can.... Please can anyone help?? Also, I have looked into the possibility of not having up-to-date DirectX on the machine ... but Microsoft says that Windows 7 comes with the latest DirectX (is it 11?). - Hillyer |

Try updating your graphics card, either from nvidias homepage if its an nvidia chip or ATI for radeon chips.
Its the first thing I can think of the top of my head |

Okay. Will head there now. Many thanks for the speedy response ;}
Any other input from Uthgard? x |

Thanks. Whilst it is a newer laptop, and whilst the Processor is way better and the memory is way better the Graphics card is waaay too low. I think it is a 128mb card (LOL). But oh well. I guess I can just take the graphics card out my previous laptops and pimp it up a bit. Thanks for your help though. Sorry for being a n00b ![]() |

Have you set any compatibility mode yet ? If you set XP (servicepack 3 is what i´ve) it should work, at least it worked for me. Maybe try it out
