Last night we tried to set up a guild for 4 irl danish friends + online friends who have been in <fml> guild in a lot of games so far. However, Abydos contacted us and told us we were in violation with some rules and had to change out guildname.

Why? That guildname is in no way offensive, even if you misunderstand it and think of the fmylife.com reference which, come on, honestly, would not offend anyone even the slightest.

We are having a hard time finding another guildname and we are still dissapointed with Abydos' conclusion on the matter, seeing it as how no other source of authority has ever made a fuzz about our name. There are worse names out there on Uthgard so please, let us have our guildname and we will leave you alone.

The authority of the Uthgard staff is unimpeachable in all community parts. Staff decisions are to be followed and not to be discussed. Violations may result in punishments. In serious cases they may even result in a permanent ban.

§6.1 Name prohibitions – general
It is not allowed to choose a character name that violates the general conduct. This includes insults, harrassing, racistic, ethnic insulting, obscene, vulgar, sexistic and useless names in all languages.

So we just have to accept that some GM puts our guildname under the 'useless names' categori.

We are all agreeing that this matter has been dealt with wrongfully, and we are quite upset that we can not have our guildname. We are furthermore all well aware of the server rules and we would never break them purposely. Who are we offending with an acronymous guildname that just happens to refer to the fmylife.com website, which i think is your reason for censoring us? What about BIT, X x X, Roflcers of The LAWL, OH RLY? How are they more useful than ours?

Let us have our guildname. We're very proud of it, and it's very important for us. Besides, having to find an alternative to an already legit guildname is a slap in the face tbh.

there is this same issue with character names...some get changed, some dont, theres not much a player can do when a gm makes a decision though :s

That is why I am appealing the decision. You can not have people running around with names like Zikk Fokk and then censor <fml>

only a suggestion, maybe useless but why don't you try to change in "for my life" like on your website?

We do not want useless names, this guildname is one of such. If you find other players or guilds with names that violates our rules feel free to appeal them. However we can't sit and scroll through every single player / guild name in the database to look for unwanted names. We need the players help to do find these names.

Why is it useless?! It is just rude of you to simply call our preferred name useless. I can't read french - so all french guildnames are useless for me aswell. Why should this be different in any other language?

We are not into being called <Dragonslaying Templar Knights of the Round> or anything like that. It is not a RP server -.-

i dont understand how they allow names like this when clearly the rules state that you cant, but yet they wont allow <fml> as a guild name....
