Hi all, I wasn't sure if I should write this here or to the general forum since it's a combination of a small introduction of myself, but also couple of questions I hope to get answers to.

I'm very new to DAoC, I found Catacombs on sale at the local store so I thought why not. Been playing Ultima Online and Ashen Empires in my past and DAoC has been on my wishlist for quite a while. Me and my wife played DAoC for a little while on another shard that unfortunately got closed down because of owner's personal life tragedy. I quit playing DAoC for a while because I felt that there wouldn't be other equally good places, heh. Shard where we played had open realms so you were able to discover them all with just one character which was really exciting and just PvE. Okay I think this is enough about me and/or other shards and onward to my small questions :)

Is Uthgard PvP type of server? I understand it's RvR which means that realms are closed I guess? Umm and that you can kill other players in Darkness Falls.

Is there lot of roleplaying here or mostly just powergamers?

How fast is the exp gain rate?

I believe that's it pretty much. I tried to look answers to these questions already around the website, but couldn't find. If I was being blind and just missed them, I would greatly appreciate a link.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

We can kill players of other realms where you can encounter them (Battlegrounds, Frontiers, Darkness Falls).

I wouldn't say here is much roleplaying, but since most of the people here play just for fun, not 24/7, you cannot call them powergamers neither.

The xp gain rate is similar to the original servers, so quite slow.

Yes, the xp gain is pretty the same though we can enhance that gain with some XP bonuses. When you own keeps in the BG and in Emain, the xp gain is more important. The more keeps you have, the more xp you'll have.

I found it really easy to level btw. Once you know good spots for your level, it's pretty quick to be level 40. Being 50 takes more time :p

Thank you for the kind answers I appreciate this a lot. I'm not afraid of the slow gains, I'm actually more into earning the skills instead of getting instant 50.

One more thing that came up though. When I make a character I understand it's bound to the realm you choose it to be and so if you created one and chose Hibernia, you can't access Midgard with it?

What about second character? Can I make like two characters one being in Hibernia and one in Midgard or are all the characters bound to the original choice, in this case Hibernia? I hope this makes sense... I did read something about creating multiple accounts to access all 3 realms, but I don't really like that idea. Isn't that illegal too?

I'm a little confused with this realm thing :) I've never seen this kind of thing in any other online game, but the concept surely is interesting.

ur acc is bound to one realm, u cant create 2 mid chars, than 2 hibchars etc.
so u have to create another account, which u than can bound to,lets say midgard. all chars on this acc then have to be midgardians. (u could have checked that on ur own. just try to create another char..

and its not illegal to have another acc to access other realms, its illegal if u use it to get advances against the other realms with this acc. name is,spying the enemy (yeah, too much ppl doing so :" oh no,i dont play alb anymore,i just logged in to see how u r doing.")

realmcrossing is ok,imho. but there are many guilds who dont accept it.(esp. at hib)
Realm versus Realm means:
Everybody of some Realm, against everyone of the other Realms..

leveling is still quite hard if you use only staff and no armor... exept maybe for the casters classes

over realm crossing is totaly agreed. and better if you do it fairly, so don't join the realm with more players in rvr or things like that.

it's always better to know your enemies. and not a lot of guild disagree with over realm twinking cause very lot of old players try an other realm after testing all the classes in one realm...

usually i haven't get any problem exception from few guys, but in this case it's nice to have a char in other realm and kill them :-)

Okay thanks for the clarification on account thing. I can also see why some would frown upon multiple accounts too, but I can't help it. I want to experience all realms especially since I'm so new to DAoC that I still have huge amount of places that I have never even seen before... so it goes for exploration pretty much.

Thanks for the answers again guys. Now I'm sure I want to try out Uthgard. Haven't logged in yet because weeks are really busy for me in real life. I'm afraid online games are my weekend entertainment... only weekend entertainment... but then again, it's a lot better than nothing :)

Thanks again and see you in game :)
