Freeeeezing news!

You know, that's one of the things where classic DAoC got it right. (Not including BBs) you knew you were pretty much done with getting your gear sorted after finishing your template because you knew that was the end of the road for everyone. Ok some might have a gadget charge/pot here and there but in general you were pretty much equal to your opponents. The buffbot (and the Uthgard buffpots/charge system) cancel out this equality again on a smallman/solo/casual RvR basis (though buffbots even influence 8v8). Because pretty much every MMO has worse PvP pratially because of not having equal grounds for endgame PvP, so we should just be like that too, while it's actually so easy to actually prevent this from happening?
I've never said it would magically fix RvR. I'm saying it would make RvR a lot more accessible to casual players, a lot less tedious for skirmishers and thus likely to be more populated in the end. It's not going to magicly pimp RvR on its own in an instant, duh. But it will have a positive long-term impact. You rather stick to flaws because the cure takes a while to kick in properly? ![]()
They make this server with the intention to provide an online game to whoever wants to play. A freeshard is also made by the players on that aspect. Having a reasonable playerbase is somewhat how you can determine its success. Now when the community criticises certain choices or decisions, it is most likely in their best interest. Some are egoistic morons who don't give a damn about the bigger picture and just whine all day long about changes that would benefit themselves more than anyone. Then again some actually want to give feedback so that this server actually improves as a whole, creating a bigger player attraction and thus increasing eventual success. You seem to think every suggestion, remark or critique is equal to mindless whining ... In defense of truth-to-experience.

/sign on this. i wasted 20p+ to get high enough WC to craft them and within 1 month they were removed. nayru give me the reason as legendary skins were lagging a few people in rvr, but then within a few months of that they released taj2 drops all with legendary skins. makes no sense if you ask me. plus theres still old players with dozens of the drops who produce them once in awhile to unfairly make absurd sums of money. its a terrible unbalance to have removed these and beyond unfair to the community. so you punish community (if you realy do what you plan) to take away gold from: .) ppl who abused bug (there were bugged spots and they got abused) or .) from players who are long around (like i am, thats why i h ave gold)? you need a goldsink? reimplement legendarys...they are expansive, they have no sellback value, they have nice skins (and MANY want em..i know that since i am the last in albion producing them..still have some ingredients) but once again..why dont you consider a pricelift when you buy a house (they where more expensive on live (look at my patch-quote on site 1).. but rental ...smaller houses are cheaper than live, and bigger houses are more expensive than live..
but COULD that be an option if this is possible to program? sure i know its a lot of work...but worth the effort i guess...you read yourself in several posts how many ppl want back NF because of keeps (i am one of them) i miss my Lady....

I guess if you play on Uthgard long enough you get used to the numerous bugs in RvR but personally I find it dissapointing that there's not even mention of them.
Perfect example is this buffbarrel debate because they give people an advantage but nobody even mentions that i.e. a fullbuffed hero has troubles going through a clerics blockrate. You argue about buffpot values while the melee system is flawed. I find it absurd that people here care more about higher house rent than the fact that a lot of classes already are or soon will be worth very little in group RvR with these unaltered RAs. But then again judging from the posts in this topic you've seem to have hit the spot with the community so who am I to complain about pvp when there's new dungeons to be made. |

At this point the change is inevitable. Nothing can be altered until the OF RAs are rolled out and everything is on the table. I for one am happy the staff are almost finished with the "new" RA system. The server can't move on until its done.

personally i think people only care less about pvp because the staff insist everyone must pvp the staff's way. this is a full featured server with a very large and dynamic community, i don't see why we cant have all the types of pvp that existed on live. there was always more to do than zerg emain on live (at patch level 1.69 anyway, i know there was times when all levels pvped in emain but this was very early). the people who hate the OF keeps arent going to just go there because it's all you give them to do. they're just going to quit and go to a server which offers NF keeps. this only hurts the community at large. the solution is a very small section of code which activates /rp off command ![]() Last edited by Astealoth on Dec 08, 2010 19:11, edited 1 time in total.

Sorry but you call this news? As Disdain said, this is rather a compilation of all your promises to the community of the last 2-3 years than anything else. When I asked a GM about the Old-RA situation 3-4 Weeks ago he said the exact same thing you said here.
And I agree with all other postings that things like house rentals and such should not be considered important! The only thing you need to look at is the results of the poll you published earlier this year: 1) Completion of the classes (42%) 2) Clarification about the future realm abilities and patch level (21%) 3) Making the frontiers more interesting (stronger keeps, more levelspots, ...) (16%) Fix the classes before you even think of fixing house rentals or w/e. This is just sad. Daedron Hi!

i think they've been addressing these requests pretty well. i see patch notes quite often about the improvement of classes. they worked on a hib mage just this week. they have been very clear about the direction of RAs and patch levels. they have announced that OF dungeons are being worked on as a top priority as well. i don't see how any of these 3 things you listed aren't being addressed. if you want instant updates go back to live where they have a 10 person paid staff doing it 40 hours a week. what you have to complain about anyway? hibs are the most complete realm. midgard is the one stuck with only 70% complete hunter and BD. plus i imagine they only posted this due to a community outcry for information. the staff can't give you more information than they have. to expect this is moronic. |

I played Mid Nimue in the OF days. We always had relics. Maybe the realm needs to pull together better instead of being just some hardcore 8man guilds. As far as housing costs go, I'm already paying higher rent for my Villa on Uthgard than on the live server. 80g/week vs 60g/week. Although to be honest , the rent isn't a problem if the market explorer was up and working. What I always wanted on Live was more CM space. There used to be a shortage of lots to buy a house, because people had to own multiple houses to have more cm's to sell from. At least I did as I always sold so many things, mostly crafted items. And only having one cm with 5 pages severely limits me. Old RA's... I'm not looking forward to the prereqs like when I just want some serenity on a new caster but have to get aug acuity 2 before I can get serenity 1. It just makes leveling more painful for more levels. I know my example doesn't really affect people much at lvl 50. Except maybe Dodger as the classes that can get it usually have no problem with capping their quickness so they do not need aug quick 2. I remember not needing it back in OF days. There are good reasons why they got rid of those prereqs with the New RA's, not because the RA's were tied into ToA. Old RA's were their first attempt at RA's, some flawed and broken. Even Mythic knows not to force them back onto us. |

It's not about hardcore 8man guilds, it's more that mid tanks are overpowered on uthgard + require very little effort to play in everyday rvr which in turn causes few people actually play casters who are a lot more valuable in keep raids. The Bird of the Hermes is my name

uthgard isnt exactly nimue. its pretty impossible to pull together 200 RC runis on uthgard to make a keep raid group. there is like maybe 2 active. this is the reply every mid gets when he say relic is hard. but what exactly is the strategy to taking them when every mid has a zerk and every alb has a sorc? im sick of hearing this to be honest. if it was balanced midgard would have a relic at least once a year even with our combined "bad playing". relics shouldn't be for the elistist perfect players, it should be fun for the community. i cant help it that every time i call for a relic raid half midgard logs alb or hib to farm free rps, a quarter of midgard stays in hardcore 8 man in emain and refuse to help, and the final quarter go get farmed by 175+ rr2 sorc or menta campers. |

Played on live many years ago and joined Uthgard a few months back. Appreciate the update from the staff and kudos for preserving DAoC the way it was played way back in the day!
Some comments/questions on the update: 1. Old RAs and 1.69 patch. It would be good if the staff creates a sticky with 1) a list of the Old RAs and 2) key changes to expect with the 1.69 patch. This helps to keep the player base informed. Yes I know this can be googled/searched from the Internet, but not everyone may be able to find the information. 3. Buff barrels / charges Please make some changes to the current system. It is ironic that while buffbots are not allowed, the current 1v1/2v2 scene is highly dependent on "who has the best buffs, wins". If the vision of the server is to enable RvR on a LEVEL/EQUAL playing field on a buff basis, please either make buff pots PvE-only, or remove them altogether. Same for buff charges. This will help accessibility for casual players in small-group RvR. For the record, I levelled an alchemist to gain access to buffs, and I DO use them with great results. Still, I strongly vote against them. 4. BG setup Great to hear. More BGs is always good. Leaving Thidranki at 49 is a good decision. No one in the right mind will go to emain RvR at 45+. You will get steamrolled by the regular groups and end up going back to PvE in frustration anyway. 5. Old RvR dungeons Awesome. Great loot and new areas to fight in. Some of my best fights were in these dungeons where players lost buffs after zone and it was fun equal fights. 7. Appeals I have been regularly appealing players running around anon and with shamans/clerics stuck behind them. I seldom see any action taken against them (I read the ban forum). It seems some players are abusing the current system whereby they are using 2 different IP addresses to connect to the server, and go AFK on the second account. 8. Merchant Explores Good. This will help the game economy greatly by improving pricing information and matching demand with supply. Looking forward to this. Lastly, big thanks to the staff for all their efforts! |
