Now, the damage is done, rvr is much much lower than it should, reasons?

pujoo wrote:I agree with Griselda. When Uthgard was instant port to rvr there was much higher rvr population. With the introduction of OF and OF RA soon I hope, the rvr population should be higher than previous but it's not. Perhaps this is because port times. Sometimes I go to emain and there are 0 enemies, especially during USA primetimes when population on server is around 250-300. I think it's worth a test^......

when uthgard had the instant port system it was a completly different server setting
reasons why there was always inc on american primetime:
- nice XP spots
- nice XP bonus (75%)
so there were always ,.. even if just xpers , ppl to kill out ,.. which lured xp killers out ,.. which you could kill /hunt then ,.
i remember how ppl were protecting my xp grp ,.. or how i was protecting xp grps ,..
there was an incentive to go there
same it is with the ellyl spot in HW ,.. you can find action there almost 24/7 ,.

imo its very narrow minded to compare 2 completly different server settings with each others and then take just 1 of the differences and say : THIS IT IS!

ofc instant ports would bring few more ppl to emain ,.. but whats the prize for it?

several reasons why the rvr population is low are known ,.. the casual players know best , why they dont go to emain !

and yes , one of the reasons is the port time ,
but there are like 10 other reasons or even more why there is less action in emain than in agramon ,.. its not just the map its not just the port time ,.. its mainly the incentive to go there which does not just depend on port time or even more ridiculous on the map ,..

the main population that you want to take part in the RvR (RvR alike ppl like llithium consider it) got a different point of view of how RvR is.

no instant port will EVER change this

the only good point which would affect it were if you implement it like darkraider77 / finfula said, since this would at least give and incentive for casuals for deffing/taking the keeps that provite the ports

nvm as zarkor already said ,.. everything is already said ,..

this idea isnt new and got declined by GMs ,..the Staff did already announce in which way the RvR revamp will look like , and also we know for how long we might need to wait for all this to come ....

afaik the staff wants uthgard to have RvR in any kinds of possible views
(at least i d like it like that) ;P

not a zone like an instant server where you can port to, to deal as much dmg as you can before you die , in order to just port back wait 2min and go again

Well i agree full with feelit the porter sytem on Uthgard are one from many problems.

But the really big problem is that people get wiped by a high rr grp and have no chance of fun in RvR.
If they try to make some rps in a 16 slot they will get flamed over and over in the irc/broad chat and i think thats the mainreasong of this RvR problem.

THE PLAYER.

People dont let the player play daoc like they want they telling something about fair play 8vs8 and bla bla bla.

But whats about player who dont wanna play 8vs8 or dont want to play how other player like.

I think this is the problem why people stoped playing emain and doing BG and pve fun.

Why get instant port if you have enough people to fill it, newcomers dont go to emain to rvr cause they cant compete till get some experience and rps, and they cant get that cause they cant kill enemy cause they cant add, they cant zerg or they can leech from rvr, organized guild grps let them die over and over if they interrupt they "fair" rvr .

Result that people will leave high end rvr for elitist and move to bg, thats why we have full bgs and empty emain, its a player mentality nothing more, yeah get instant port and will solve nothing.

Agramon is too small for Uthgard.

You'd like a change again, after a half year because of too many zergs.

When Agroman was alive, we we're happy about 200 Players online at primetime!

Sure, with OF it seems, that we are too less players for OF.

But I think the mention about the view of casual/new players was the best here.

High RR/Guild groups are too hard for them ... Understandable that they dont want to start the 10th donation-run ...

When I started on Uthgard I was a casual, a newbie, an rr3. Yes I played live but only untill rr5. So according to you all I was destined to do was add and zerg. No I started in RvR knowing absolutely nothing, I was a crap player, like probably most of the people that never RvR. but I guess that now I am one of the elitists or the high rr. Why? Cause I didn't want to be a PvE'er. I recognized what was awesome about this game and it was not PvE or ZergvsZerg for me, which no doesn't require any skill or determination.

All I want to say is that people that do not want to RvR, won't do it. People who do, will. I don't see why we should arrange the rvr system to people that don't care about it in the first place. Yes if a relic raid is arranged I see people in rvr that I wouldn't see on other days but then they're gone for weeks.

Just be a bit social and get to know people, train yourself and most importantly you have to want to improve.

Lesser porting times generate more traffic, more traffic generates more fun for almost everyone.

Most PUGs disband after 2-3 unsuccessful runs simply because there are no adequate enemies around. If the time it takes to run again is cut significantly probably more people are going to try it plus they won't give up that fast.

At least an instant porting system should not take long to be implemented.

Also.... what do we all (admins, players) have to lose? Not much imo, so let's give it a try!

Easier/faster porting does NOT make better game mechanics nor does it get more people to the PVP zones, it just makes insta gratification/non-effort people happy. With the porting as it is you have better chances of getting a decent PUG and more chances to not have people trickle in 1 by 1 (and subsequently killed 1 by 1).

Why do people always want things easier and less effort (and come up with great 'reasoning' for it to happen)?

How does forcing afk on ppl improve your chance to get a decent pug?

Why do you want to stand afk 8 min instead of actually playing the game?

Because you, as a group of people, wait for the porting to happen so there's more chance to meet people and make pugs. This IS an MMO right, not a single player FPS. the interaction with others is the exact reason WHY this shard doesn't allow for buffbots, /level or using more than 1 account.

It's the exact same reason why insta porting around in an MMO is a BAD thing, as it takes away from the whole MMORPG experience.

"why do you want to wait 8 minutes", why not ask "why can't you rez in your pvp zone", after that just ask "why can't I rez myself on the spot", followed by "why can't we just instagib people".

I don't recall ever having a hard time forming a group when I didn't have to sit around and wait for 8 minutes. People know how to look for groups. We're not retarded.*

"why do you want to wait 8 minutes", why not ask "why can't you rez in your pvp zone", after that just ask "why can't I rez myself on the spot", followed by "why can't we just instagib people".

Okay, yeah, no. Taking a reasonable question and turning it into an absurd extreme doesn't illustrate your point. We know what moderation is.

the interaction with others is the exact reason WHY this shard doesn't allow for buffbots, /level or using more than 1 account.

...So your reasoning for this is that we need to be forced to wait around for a few minutes to interact with other players?

This is a game, not a chat room. I'll "interact with other players" when I want to.

This IS an MMO right, not a single player FPS.

Wait, are you trying to imply that solo is not a legitimate form of gameplay?

Stop dicking around.

*:Some exceptions apply

Yes, I see your absolutely magnificent point! But why stop there? Let's make DAoC a *true* MMO! Increase the port timers to 30 minutes, no - 24 hours! Ignore these fools who do not appreciate the subtle beauty of the porting pad, the delicate grace of Visurs incantations or the snug fit of the porting amulet!

And while you're at it, please also lobby for some sort of timer to be introduced to the forums as well, so I don't have to read so much of these incoherent ramblings about what a MMO should be.

Oh, and FYI, you CAN rez in your PvP zone. Awful, right? Now that you know this awful fact DAoC will probably be too "instant" for you and you can happily go back to playing chess over mail with someone in Zanzibar.

lol are you serious?

PUGs are often formed in mpk/apk/dl, with the support of /lfg, friends, guildies and so on. Waiting 7 minutes on a pad WON'T help me making a pug at all.
On the other side, if I have more people at APK waiting to get grouped it's easier for me to make a pug.

Are you at least aware of what you are saying? What kind of "effort" is waiting afk for 8 mins? How the hell is a faster porting an "insta gratification"?

Also, I'm just curious, do you even play on Uthgard?
