Hello Uthgard RvR community, i want to point out 2 ideas to improve the current RvR situation:

- Cut port timers, reintroduce instant ports.
- Introduce porters to Dun Bolg for Hibs, Porters to Caer Sursbroke for Albs, Porters to Hildskialf Faste for mids and make those 3 keeps unclaimable and with unkillable guards just like the usual porter keeps for the other 2 realms.

I really think those 2 changes are pretty easy ones to realise and they will have a direct effect on the RvR population. The Uthgard population is yet just to low for those 3 given Areas. If the population will raise in future it shouldnt be hard to cut those 3 Porter bases again. Also those 3 new porter keeps wouldnt have any influence on the DF holding (every realm looses one keep to claim) or the Relic Raids which are part of the RvR too (the distance from the new porter keeps is nearly the same as from the border keeps). Of course one could say it would give relic defenders the advantage to intercept a reliczerg carrying the relic home, but what negative effect would that have? Usually the relic attackers are more than the defenders, specially then when they made it to get a relic actually. and then another fight at a milegate or on the way back to the home relickeep would just be another challenge (fun challenge in my point of view).

Those ideas are actually active improvements on the direct topic RvR, unlike the cut of BG's which i want to point out again as a big failure. You can't enforce people to like something, which is bad, more, just because you take away from them something they liked. Leaving players to emain with a realm rank of 3.2 or whatever is the Staffs idea will increase the already huge amount of one-day-flys (people that reach emain and quit the server or reroll after a few days/weeks/month). By cutting off the higher lvl battlegrounds the attraction of the lower battlegrounds wont be less. People that prefer bgs will stay in bgs and the only way to get people to the main rvr zone is to focus on that zone and improve it actively not passively.

i hope for a good discussion and even more for alot of agreement cause thats the only chance to finally get something done here.

greetings Griselda

Well something has to be done to increase the rvr population imo.
Sometimes I roam in empty emain with 600/700 players on, and I'm pretty sure at least 200 of em at least one lvl 50, but they just don't find emain funny and they'd rather do rvr in bgs or just do pve.

There are many reasons why a player, let's say "casual", would like to play in BGs instead of Emain, but at least one of these reasons is that without waiting teleports you have a sort of "fast rvr" in BGs.

So yeah I think introducing istant ports is a good idea. Still you have to face with the "classic classic classic no custom!" policy that makes, in my opinion, these threads pretty useless.

Bad idea i think. remove keep and make it unkillable make a nosense.
Better add a new spot or whatever but remowing keep is just bad idea.
It's my opinion about this topic.

why arent 18 claimable keeps enough? back in agra times there was only 1 raidable keep for each realm so really wheres the difference in being able to raid 18 or 21 keeps? i dont get your point jarek

How can new people be friendly with emain rvr if they try to do a pug and roam and they are zerged/owned by high rank enemy , and if they try to "add" got blamed by "honorable" 8 vs 8 guild groups.

I meet many people that left high end rvr cause of that , not a server problem its a player problem.

jarek you missunderstood the hole..

the keep should not be removed...it should made unclaimable for enemys and set as teleporterkeep for the own realm.

i like the idea, so a fat +.

because we need the people faster back into the action, so there will be more groups running and more nice fights.

I hope this will get changed in the future...

Do something Staff, do something! ;-)

Yes please!

Edit: Though some delay might not be bad otherwise you can die in front of apk and be there again in under 30seconds.

That's a wide spread "problem" with DAoC in general, has absolutely no relevance towards this thread or the porters. The point is to create certain shortcuts towards high traffic areas for all three realms - shortcuts that would improve the action and make it less boring for players.

Obviously, I'm all pro to this idea.

Staff announced they would reduce the time to get into the RvR zones afaik. I'm quite curious to see how that pans out before engaging myself into further discussion.

I'm just saying this to stop the "omg staff do smth" cries, because they ARE already doing something!

I agree with the idea of reduciing timer for rvr, even though I think it isn't the reason of the lack of players in emain.

I do have one fear though, if you make a port for hibs , it will make the rvr zone smaller, which may be good at some points during the day, but pretty aweful in zerg nights :p

To fill in emain, and I agree with zaszeadora on this one...

We have to make emain suitable for casual players... as to how... no idea
