Hello,
I just started playing DAoC and i really enjoy it, but there is a little problem that just ****** me off  .
When loading new buildings (especially in big cities) im expieriencing framerate slowdowns, i thought that my pc may be to slow (1.4ghz cpu, 256mb ram, 64mb video should be enough for ToA) but then i checked my CPU usage and noticed that when loading new buildings or loading new area DAoC only uses 10-25% of CPU, and when all new buildings are loaded it uses 95-99% and then the game runs perfect. I think that the game should always use all my CPU. By the way, DAoC isnt the only game that has this problem.

Slowdowns arent so big and when i explore all city and all buildings gets loaded they stop, but that just ****** me off because i think that my pc is really enough for this game and that this problem can be solved :? .

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry for bad english, hope you understood the problem.

Thanks

Hello bugy,

What you can do is removing things like toa trees, waters, shadow etc.
You can also setting a medium clipping distance.

Daoc request a lot of resources, and windows never learn to manage your memory, both of this make any comp crazy.
And it's more a memory usage problem, i think the best for play this game is 1 giga of ram and not less or you will experience this problem real long.

(Was playing on live with nearly same config as you but with a slower proc, and during mass fight, nearly 200 players in same zone, i simply had 1 image all the 30 sec .. which is really hard for rvr)

Pirith.

256mb ram is far to less.
if you want to play you should have at least 512mb.
Windows xp nearly takes them if it is allowed.
As Pirith is saying best do play is like 1gb of ram.
It will give you whole a such big tune that you will again love your computer.
Think about getting yourself more ram!!
Greetings
