I think a lot of people that are railing against PD don't understand the real problem with this class. What makes the Ranger OP is a combination of different factors. PD is only one part of it.

PD does allow Rangers to be exceptionally lazy in their play-style (as with your typical Celt/Shar melee build) and still win most fights. A well played hybrid build, however, is far more powerful.

Also, I'd like to give a shout out to massivmamper for his compelling and oh so useful "Ranger vs. Warden" balance comparison. I had no idea a fully self-buffed hybrid with pulsing PBT and a 10-second stun off of parry could be effective in 1v1 combat. This is real game-changing information and I look forward to leveling my Ranger-killing Midgard Warden. Thank you so much.

You are really stupid man. I ALWAYS go with AF buff on, do you know? i'm an hunter and i have self AF buff. And all the SB i know always roam with charges of AF on. I was just kidding you.

EDIT: oh... and another thing: how can i play my class to it's full potential if my class is incomplete? We're not all rangers mate.

I havent played Ranger on Live but NS in classic days and even rr8 scouts couldnt stand a chance vs my mighty rr4 ns. Only lost to rr7+ assassins.

There is one guy that has played ranger on live. He made ranger here and went on to NS and we are the opinion that ns is better.

because if u talking about 1.60+ we haven't played the same game ...

ns always be the gimpies assassins even if with pd (active ra)
started to be decent a little before toa when they got remedy as ra (not rr5, was not implemented, the first assassins get it was ns because was totally underperforming against infs/sbs)

before 1.60 best assassin was SB but only for the laxe bugged
after 1.60 till today best assassin (stealther on general) infiltrator

but, on my opinion, inf always be the best, on classic times with dragon fang 9secs stun was very very deadly (why here no df 9 secs stun?)

rangers always be best archer (maybe till the last fix to hunters, with uber pet)
scout always be the gimpiest on melee, but damn deadly with bow on small hidden grp's

but, in any time of daoc, rangers always had to escape to pure stealthers (infs/sb) because always had no chance, repeat, even if with ip up.
basically, stealthers evade all, like should be (with evade 7) and with high grow rate of critical line on evade chain totally destroy archers.

this always be daoc

but, repeat, the problem of purga are not rangers, the problem is the combat system.

why do you always see the same 5-10 ppl cry about rangers?
maybe just those 5 ppl got a prob with em?

Classic means SI times until a short period after NF.

I didn't realize you play a hunter, in which case I agree with you, hunters need to be fixed..

There´s five pages of crap here and not even one SS to have some serious discussion about the OPed rangers. Eclipse really tried to end up that exhausting whinefest within bringing some decent evidence. I was thinking about doing some fight history and post SS here when this thread started but it´s not worth even hitting the SS button in game since:

It´s simply not possible to discuss something with frustrated players getting bashed at AMG by ****** of rangers ...
