Not really. Before block and parryfix Ranger was the best tank with pd5. But the same goes for scout (he is the best ingame because of shieldspec) and maybe hunter. |

p.s. ask how mutch scouts are grp'ed for tank on hulks (not legionraids or highlors lol) even if pd spec and all with at least 42 shield ^_^ this is really enough for me to understand how a joke are rangers on this server

i'd really like pay again my live account for let u try my luri ranger and let u see, even with all artifacts, new ra's, more hp's, more damage, dot's arrows, leg weapons and malice artifacts etc etc how it perform on rvr. he perform well, like has to be. an archer. that must stay FAR from pure stealthers (infs/sb=BOOM even with IP up), can deal really huge damage with bow (anyway lower than scouts) and can make decent melee damage but that can't face any tank on pure melee. anyway, a good ranger, can kill all, but need really a lot of lucky and skill on ra's use and found the right moment to inc (need to damage a lot with bow before go melee, kite, hide again, bow again, when target 20% health can go melee ... like ALL ARCHERS). There are 2 reasons because it wasnt the same in Midgard or Albion. Midgard has svg which was the overall best tank before block/parry fix because of selfbuffs (melee res) and evade. And Albs still have paladin with plate armor.. I do play Alb too and Paladins get slightly higher damage by the midprince than my ranger with pd5.

What he said is that paladin gets hit harder with his plate armor, 200 more AF and god know how much more constitution than a pd5 ranger does. Sad but true.

It is the hib prince with crush damage (sorry for my mistake). I got max about low 800 hits and paladin 100 more maybe. Both armor types are vulnerable to crush. Actually I have to spend 34 realmpoints to be tank like a paladin. Of course vs thrust mobs he hs been better and vs slash mobs the ranger was better. Nowadays after both parry and block are fixed a ranger couldnt compete to fulltanks.

Most paladins cant play and spec slash  Thrust is the way to go and a really good paladin was Caroli (even if she was low rr like rr5). Always a hard enemy.
A good paladin is like a good warden, really hard to kill. Even the actives are a really good counter to pd like WoC or AoG. A good example for a slash high boss is the hib dragon. He made 250 to 450 to me with PD5 when I got agro. |

lol explain me why a good paladin should go thrust ... slash autotrain have one of the best anytime of all albion (medium endu decent gr rate and very high bonus to hit). Ametyst slash (lvl 29) maybe not the best type of damage on resists type but still one of the more "neutral" pally is not supposed to make damage (even if with 39 2h on hybrid spec shoud make some decent swing, is clear, not here on uthgard ^_^) but is just supposed to be a truck to kill. sry, on uthgard is not working ^_^ and u know this  |

Archers are no fulltanks, they have not to compete with warriors or paladins tanking attitude. But on uthgard they can. This is the way it has to be:

All this worthless whine guys.. The only guy who might have anything to say in this thread is Noir because he plays at rr10 and still without Viper3.. All the other viper3 assasins who whine about ranger PD, should just shut up tbh
You _have_ to remember that in ANY patch in DAoC history there has been strong and weak chars.. Yes, rangers are good as it is atm.. Unbeatable, game breaking? Not by a long shot.. Some of the people in this thread are thid gimps rr4l2 who just came out of BG in to big boy rvr.. Now let me tell you, it's not easy to enter emain RvR as a ranger right after BG either.. Your char gets much stronger at rr5 when you get the full L51 effect of your wpns etc, your rr5 ability and so on.. But people just give up, and think that it's rangers fault that they can't gain any rps.. Look at it from a hib perspective for a second.. I have a ranger, i solo atleast 95% of the time, when I came out of BG i couldn't earn ****** rps either, getting trashed by high RR infils with Viper3 all the time and ofc zerged by the elite stealth zerg guilds (wont name any names).. Sure it ****** me off a lot, but more than anything it just made me think about what I could do to beat those damn infils, i got my ****** together and bought a damage add bracer among other things.. Worked on perfecting my tactics, and even though i still lost many fights vs viper3 assasins (with my oh so overpowered PD) i just kept going, and eventually figured out ways to atleast have a chance.. Now when I'm nearing RR6, i still get my ass handed to me once in a while even though who have ALL 6 relics, which is a huge advantage.. Any good assassin at my rr or higher always stand a chance against me.. We all do what we can to make our chars as strong as possible, rangers specc some PD, assassins go viper. Now quit ****** |

There are not only assasins in this server. Not all can spec viper 3. |

you are right man!!! we are all 4l2 NOOBS that come out from thid!!! just le me point 1 thing: for me, the real noobs, are ppl that roll rangers. for sure are not noobs ppl that play ns's, or hero's. I am sure that if something will be done, 90% of rangers will quit and start play some other class because will understand that: running with pd5+ip+rr5 and just spam anytime+conver on side stun will not work and will need to mutch other things to win. anyway, now, i quit too, i haven't nothing other to say. bb Last edited by realac0 on May 18, 2010 17:40, edited 1 time in total.
