Excuse me Sethor but this feature is so similar to buffbots that there's really reason enough to remove completely, just like you (staff) remove buffbots completely. Just try fighting Baman with any of your (solo) chars. You won't even stand a chance, not even at RR11. It's THAT influencial in figths, just like buffbots. Anyway though, if there's a way inbetween where the complete misuse is prevented, but allowed in the 'right' occasions then I'd say go for it. Ronia's suggestion is indeed not too bad. |

make it to where you have to have the ENVENOM skill to actually make the poison go off. |

No, right now its as if concentration based buffs lasted after the buffing class logged out, so that I could buff myself and log out my bot without worrying about a ban. If venom were to disappear when the person who did the envenoming logged (like conc buffs do, or within minutes of them logging like timered buffs do), then it would be like buffing classes. This is not the case, they can use the venom whenever. |

I understand your frustration Sethor, but please try to understand mine. I have highlighted the serious balance problems this "feature" would cause in previous threads. The response has always been along the lines of "that's the way it is / learn to live with Classic DAoC." Now we have people screaming about getting poison-spammed by classes that were never designed or balanced to have access to poison. This is extremely frustrating for me. I have wasted hours of free time on these forums trying to bring valid gameplay issues to the attention of the staff and the result is almost always null. I'm at the point where I really don't give a sh*t about this server anymore. I won't report bugs I find. I won't test. I won't care. Sorry for the qq.

I think Uthgard is a custom Freeshard NEAR to classic Daoc but we got Taj, SI Classes and some other small changes. I think its very important to do some custom changes if necessary to keep the balance. In my opinion only Envenom SKill classes should be able to use Poisons. Getting pawnt by a phys def mos 5 ranger with self buffs using poisons its not classic when i can´t use a buffbot to weaken his selfbuffs.

I just remember that my business law professor said that everything has to be phrased in a "whether or not" type of way. So, let me try:
The staff of Uthgard need to determine whether or not a poison-bot is similar enough to a buff-bot that it must alter the game mechanics. The staff has already altered "classic" DAOC by banning buff-bots, so the argument "it is/was that way in classic" is really a moot point. Ways that a poison bot is similar to a buff-bot: there is no range issue, no check against a skill (other than the bot's skill), it requires the leveling of another character, and provides significant benefits a character in both RvR and PvE. In what ways is a poison-bot not like a buff-bot: It doesn't have to be logged on at the same time as the main-player (using a house vault for instance), it is considerably more expensive as it would require the main-player to swap weapons after each fight (buff-bot buffs are free), and it doesn't benefit main-players who use weapons that cannot be equiped by an assasin. That's it in my opinion. The staff needs to weigh the poison-bot against a standard buff-bot and make a decision publicly so everyone knows if it is legal or not. I hated it when Mythic would never comment on it, so you go do it and then a year later they change it on you. |

We are going to review that issue. DAoC is a game with given game mechanics and features. Please note that we as staff are not going to let us being dragged into a law-type discussion about the implementation of features. We listen to your reports and suggestions and will try to find a solution that best serves both - the game and the community.
Statement: - Poisoning weapons (and/or other players weapons on the battlefield) is a standart feature in DAoC. - Due to the fact that some players without seem to use this feature on classes without envenom skill in an abusive way, we are going to discuss the issue and will eventually take actions to prevent such an abuse. Please note that you as players are not authorized to harass players, if they seem to use the feature of poisoning weapons in an abusive way! The topic will now be closed. Characters:
Midgard: Nothing atm Albion: Nothing atm Hibernia: suxx ^^ |
