As somebody who isn't really a PvP vet and interested in leveling up to 50 on this server...

I really don't enjoy the "8v8" team fights, and I never have. While group combat will obviously exist, I always just found it a bit boring.

Whenever people start Min/Maxing and worrying too much about stuff, the fun level tends to drop.

First, last tuesday there where about 6-7 DG player in the zerg, nice to know how mighty we are :D

It was an ally event (2 grps), which evolved to some kind of midgard event (4 grps) when i realised i can destroy rvr for this evening. Which was totally on purpose then, as a preparation for the prime time relic raid. And yes, we will do such events again

There where enough albs to form a counter zerg, considering the fact our zerg where 4 grps filled with lvl 40+ player while at least 3 good 8-slot alb grps where running. If they don't want to play togehter... not our problem, they are not ruining our fun with logging out. 8)

Nice events there! But tbh events should be sth not casual and a midgardzerg in primetime is more than casual! GOGO DG!

And I still don't get what is so exciting about running 24 slot? :|

Zerging requires skill, bards are insane, midgard isn't easymode and the earth is flat.

wouldt work on uthgard cause of several reasons.
first of cause the buffbot rule i find great, but eliminate the chance for hib to run with only 1 buff druid if you want to be fully buffed. also i find that a buff druid with single root can basicly do the same with single root and shears.

Why exactly do Hibs need 2 buffdruids and Mids only 1 buffshaman?
They have even more to buff because endurance.

@ the rest: This stupid 8v8 crowd ruined the live Servers and killed Daoc.
I Admit that 8v8 is fun, i played it to, but you stoopid social-handicapped persons flamed the spirit out of daoc. Now you continue here?
Daoc is rvr and if 8v8 does happen its cool, but when not get used to it.

As one already sad, GW is made for 8v8, its balanced and its awesome, you should try it.

Err... How do prerequisites lower the gap? More points needed for usefull RAs=larger gap. Plus when you take into account RA timers and their relative costs in comparison for both RA systems, NF RAs come out on top. I already did that once in a previous posts.

Force wrote:did exactly that the other day in rvr, there were zergs in emain, and we found 8v8 in odins.

Odins? How very nice and SOLO of you.

Force wrote:In case you haven't noticed, so did enough people to cap the server daily. there's a reason for that.

So? If the server suddenly introduced free levels and money and the numbers swelled, would you use that as an argument too? And even if you would, there are still much more people who played before NF then there are new players.

Force wrote:OF, with OF RAs was actually balanced.

Yeah, that's why 80% of the whines pre-NF were about RAs. Don't take my word for it, check any DAoC forum for the time period you're reffering to.

Force wrote:How about all the different MoAs for start.

You don't know what you're talking about with the RR gap. NF gives a greater bonus to those who buy the highest level RAs, and then makes those RAs more expensive than OF. The RR gap is ridiculous in NF, compare an RR4-6 skald in NF to an RR11 one, or a high RR caster than can afford PD5 and purge and everything else they need. There is no comparison, in OF you could get all the game breaking, must have RAs at around RR6, in NF you need RR8+ to get everything. And then when you do, you've got 5 minute purges, 90 second charge, 50% melee resists, +30DPS damage adds, 40% ABS on a shorter timer than OF and for every realm, in fact everything is on shorter timers and the whole system was WoWed up giving all the realms access to each other's RAs.

1.) Include RA timers and their values.
2.) Use math to compare
3.) Profit

All this is of course totally unrelated to all other OF problems, such as untestability, being completely broken without certain fixes (Det, cure NS, MoF) unlike NF which is just unbalanced but still functions, idiotic different RA costs per class that don't let you choose what's best for your character, etc etc etc.

Nymeros what dont you understand ?
This is a copy paste from my previous post :
"Nymeros how can u say OF RA gap is higher then NF RA s?.... u get same amount of augm mopains etc all for more points in of, mopain5 in NF is 39% , while in OF i dont think it pases 20% , plus all the good RA s have requirements wich prevent you from taking so many good RA s cause u gota spend like 30% of ur skil points for prereq."

A rr10 with NF RA s takes mopain5 purge3 i dont include determ ..and moblock5 lets say , bang he has 39% critchances, purge every 5 min and 23% chance to block .

What do you have with OF Ra s? for mopain u need augm dext2 , that means u gota spend points for stupid augm dext ..what do i need augm dext as a zerker for example? when i could take augm str if i really wana take something good .. and liek that u end up loosing 30% from ur whole realm skils on prereq and when u do get mopain5 u have like 20% max chance to crit, same for block u need prereq and moblock5 is around 16% or so , you do pay less for purge if u are a tank but its still 30 min timer not 5 like in NF RA s.

I wana see another player on this forum who agrees with you Nymeros when its clearly that this diference or gap how u wana call it between a low rr and a high rr is alot higher in NF then OF.
Nymeros wrote:Err... How do prerequisites lower the gap?

Man..u got issues..

My point was that Agramon at least gave you options.

You could play your prefered playstyle.

Now solo is dead, smallman highly conditional, and if you dont like to zerg, which the majority doesnt, all you can do is log.

Im not talking about realm balance, which is another problem for another thread.

Realm balance is the problem because if the realms are balanced. the zergs can bash the zergs. the groups can fight against each other some other place. and solos can fight each other.
the problem that zergs destroy the rvr is simply because the other realm(s) cant put up enough ppl who want or are able to kill the enemy zerg. that leads the zerg to turn on everything else thats moving ;)

and no matter what map you have. if a zerg doesnt have anything to kill he will go there were the shiny kill msgs from other realms are comming from

map is irrelevant

it's the zerg mentality that is ruining things
