Hello, I have a Pavilion dv6700 and I'd like to reduce a bit the little lag that affects 8vs8 fights, I want to solve this problem.

My connection is fast, I download at 0.8 MB per second with bit torrent, so I think that the problem is of my graphic card.

My processor is quite good - Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1 GHz

Ram is good - 4GB DDR2

But the graphic card quite poor - NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS (256MB)

- Should I try to overclock my graph card?

- Should I try to run DAoC on Windows XP mode? (Got Windows 7 now)

Already playing with no shades, old trees, etcetc.

Any suggestions?

Hm the graphic Card with 256MB Memory should be good enough. Ive played daoc from the beginning with Geforce 4 64MB, without problems.

Now i have a Laptop with teh same Processor and Ram thean yours and a Intel Grapic 4500 chip.....no problem with 1600x900 and all effects on

and yes i use win7 too

Well, it's weird.. I run Daoc on a similar laptop (2.0 ghz duo, 2 GB ram, 8600M GT 256MB) and I have no problems even with all shadows, trees etc.. And well, I use windows 7 too.

Maybe there is something running in background that slow down your computer? Have you updated your video drivers?

you should put a plain copy of windows on your computer. HP often ships their laptops and recovery discs overfilled with malware and junk software to eat up your process time. a simpler fix would be to turn on classic models. this cuts the client's memory footprint significantly and will make it stable even on 5 year old systems.

Bah it's really strange, this laptop had win xp before, I installed win7 on it, maybe it is overheating, will try to unscrew it and clean the dust inside and see if it works..
