I've downloaded the game from the US trial version links from the sticky posts in General forums.
I patched that....
I downloaded Daoc Portal...
When double clicking the Portal client program it asks where to install and is defaulted to the "C" drive, I use a different drive anyway, but my question is; Do I install this program into the file from the first install of Daoc trial version, or does the Portal get it's own folder? also the portal file being installed is called Daoc LOTM. I actually did both (let it have it's own file and put it inside the Daoc folder) but would like to know which one to delete and run game from?

Now I'm also getting an error that reads "Game DLL not found" when trying to set up Daoc Portal? I select Uthgard and enter a username and password, when I select play I get that error?

You have to show DaoC-Portal the way to your files (installation folder).

You do this at File -> Settings.

If it still doesn´t work then i suggest to patch it right there to eu version (don´t know if us version is supported)

Move the Portal folder into the Daoc folder?

if that doesn't work, when you say patch to EU, do you mean uninstall US and start over with EU version?

No, just start portal and there go on the button "File" and choose "Settings" there.

there is a space for DaoC installation. Just enter your install folder there, for example "D:\DaoC" or whereever you have it installed..

there`s also a patch option in these settings

I can't believe how incredibly frustrating getting this installed is
I open Portal, hit file, select EU update seems to go through, but no go on the log in. still says missing DLL. Select US update, doesn't connect.
Plus still don't understand what OF patch is from another post on connecting problems?
So to summarize what I've got; this from Uthgard install and connect links in General Discussion.
Installed the game
patched game
Installed portal
appears to be patch problem from there...
Don't know what OF patch is?

Am I missing a step and is it normally this difficult? should I scrap it all and start over?

Who knows, I'm not messing with it anymore. I just wanted to say thanks to all the people who posted trying to help, I appreciate it. I'll keep an eye on the forums in hopes that someone puts a more update step by step process.
It looks like you guys have a great community and large too, I think it could be larger if the installing and connecting wasn't so difficult.
