Problem Connecting with DAoC Portal and Client

Hey all! I am a returning DAoC player, but I am coming here instead of subscribing to the official servers. I refuse to unless things get better in the game because things are quite botchy at the moment.
Anyways I have confered with another member, and we are both stumped as to why I can't connect. I downloaded the client from the Tutorial thread and I downloaded the DAoCPortal. Now as I go to set up the game something does not work. When I go to set up the Portal I Browse for my client file and I highlight it and press OK, adding the folder name to the line. I set everything up, clicked 'Patch!' and I thought everything was set to go. When I went to log in it wouldn't let me. The second time I did this; -I downloaded the client, setting up the folder in the path that is shown in the Tutorial thread -I downloaded the Portal again -I went to set up the game -I set everything the way I think it should and go to patch it This is where another window comes up with a bunch of writing and phrases like 'boolean expression' and I can terminate the program altogether or close the window. I do so. And when I go to log in I still can't. The message 'Game DLL Not Found' I am confused... And itching to play. Does anyone know why I can't access the game? Any help is much appreciated. I can give you a spark of hope by saying that I've no idea why this is happening to you, but I'm sure someone will offer you help soon.

I think my problem lies with the file path.

Yeah, since the portal cannot find the 'game.dll' file you probably screwed something with the pathing. Check where your game is installed and in the DAoC Portal browse for the game's executable file.

I've redownloaded the game a few more times and I set the DAoCPortal to the folder that contains the game and files.
I click patch and it continues to patch but at the end of the process it says "Cannot update patch utility. Wait a while and try again." I have no idea why I can't connect to the game. Does anyone have any idea why I can't get the game to work? |

let me guess error 300 something? this is a standart error and doesnt mean anything - just restart the patcher again until you have downloaded the full game |

I had a similar problem after installing Labyrinth with a retail disk. It placed the game with a path something like eagame/darkageofcamelot/blah/blah/blah. I took the darkageofcamelot folder out of the eagames folder and placed it directly on my C: and was able to patch and play. For some reason that extra folder cause pathing issues even though I pointed portal right at the proper file.

perhaps the path to the game is for some reason too long for the client.
Windows can recognize files whose filename, including the path does not exceed 256 characters. I doubt that your path do DAoC folder is that long, but maybe for some reason DAoC Portal has way shorter limit. try and see. <strong>FIX TEH PROFILE PAGE SO I CAN CHANGE MY SIG PLZ</strong>

I keep doing this but I can't seem to reach the end. I have to patch 146kb and the highest I've reached is 130kb, but each time I go to patch the game it'll vary, like 112kb or 127kb. Do you recommend to keep trying? Or do you know another solution? |

that is afaik all you can do.. so yes keep trying |
