X-Realm Timer
and how it should work?
"And timer should be high like 5-6 hours."
Lmao, no freaking way, highest should be like 15 mins. what if you have a lvl 50 hib and a lvl 50 alb, and there are like 4 fg of hibs in emain and no albs, do you have to wait 6 hours to load your albs then? omg.. |
ya because 1 alb vs 4 fg of hibs looks very attractive to change realm. If you where on live, youd have to pay for an extra account to change realms on the same server. So a 5 hour delay before you can change realms on the same server is a decent trade off, unless you think it would be better if they find away to tie peoples IP addresses to a single realm.

15 min will not solve nothing. Delay time should be high. |
A relic raid can last 4-5 hours so imo 3+ hours would be ok.

stupid ...
So i have to player over proxy with a second daoc instance perhaps to be able to level a crossrealm twink? |
You are not supposed to dual-log anyway. And usually staff gets the ones with "a second daoc instance". |
![]() Please ... serious I haven't talked about dual logging, but this is just the same bullshit, i don't even believe that one single non stupid person have been caught while XP in one realm and craft in one other ... Accept the technical borders. |
how they should? only for example iphone tethering... other ip/provider as the usual internet connection and go
the timer idea is good, but i dont think it will work |
Nearly impossible to make it water proof. But I don't think most players have or will get multiple isp or proxies just to cross realm on uthgard. Using it to dual log at the moment is already bannable if discovered. About 1hr cross realm timer per ip should be enough. |
2h should do the trick, if i right then its 2h in live servers also (long time a go i played there so i might be wrong @ this point). |
A too long timer would be stupid, stopping anyone that want to go xp on another realm for a while for a change. Anyway, anyone that want to spy can use another way to talk with those he is spying for, Ventrilo for example, he won't be able to reinforce but he still can spy, 1 hour would be enough maybe 2 to be sure. You can't just force loyalty while you have a single server or you'll lose players (that are not spies).
Also, if none can change of realm for a long time, if one realm outnumber the others, and normally some players would just change to make it a bit more equal to have something we could call RvR instead of simple slaughter, with a too long time, the RvR could be completely dead for a few hours. |
well i do hope it will only start the count when you actually logged in a char, not right at the load screen.
"alright lets play some 50 rvr... DAMN! i started my lvl4 mid acc! NOOOOOOOOOOO!" |
Some people dont get it: you dont have to balance things within 2 hours or even less population-wise; if you do, it's just cross realming. That's not the way DaoC is meant to be played. Strange, veterans can accept OF gameplay, but fail to stick to one realm for one evening. But maybe, thats why they accept OF, cause they can switch...

Actually when sever clustering 1st started it was 8 hrs on US live servers...
Mythic did reduce it because many played more then one realm on the same cluster, I think the last one was only a few min. One time I came home from work my nefew was playing alb on Merlin I played Mid on Nimue I was ummm "upset". He was playing his account and the only toon I had on his account was a 24 SB twink, I couldn't play the SB for a few hours but I could play one of my accounts on mid. So it seemed the Mythic cross realm timer was accounts not IPs. Lucky for my nefew! jk A 2hr minimun here based on IPs would be great. |
