Realm Balance

Hello all. Was thinking of bringing a group of friends here and trying out some old school RvR with the implementation of OF coming. I was wondering how the Realm balance is here. We aren't particular on what realm we play, just do not want to be stuck on the zerging side. Thanks.

It changes from month to month, even week to week. Like atm Midgard seems the most populated but they might off the radar come next week.

|
Albion has the least rvr groups on primetime, they mostly run after midnight (cet), hib next, mid got most.
|
|
yeah that's true, we are not able to run FG at 7am...that's strange <img src="http://www.fallenearth.fr/daoc/daoc2.php?player=Panachou">

haha ![]() i think that albion FGs tend to be people with jobs (even Jump has a job actually) so we can't rvr long into the night. |
|
we're talking Central Europe Time (CET),
Primte Time (PT) is usually when people get home to play (look at server statistics), which is from 6pm to 12pm, in that time the least alb groups are present. In the last weeks most albgroups only dare to show up after midnight, the jump-grp seems to start at 2am cet. Yesterday 3 FG albs started running (and adding) at 1am. I won't speculate about why they stopped playing PT ![]() |

Because they want even fights and RPs, not chainwiping to OPed grps (OP for being rr7-10 and being midgard), just my speculation. Try alb or hib imo, if it's no difference to you. Fresh start with rr4. Then you get more fights and maybe a little challenge. I'd prefer you go alb tbh. ![]() @topic: to primetime it seemed that alb are less populated in agramon, but that's only my observation of the last month. Why ToA-RAs advance high RR groups more than old RAs do:

everybody knows that mid has the OP classes, alb has the zerg, and hib has the noobs who don't speak english

Dry cliché but somewhat correct. ![]() |

My job means I dont finish til earliest 8 CET and then I have to eat/etc before starting to play at 9-10 CET. Also when I am on call, I dont finish til 11-12CET. Am on call quite often. (I work in london so i converted to CET for you). As for why people stopped playing PT..
I guess you're suggesting your group has driven people away from PT. I don't think that's true, at least for me your group is the biggest challenge and most fun to fight out of any in Uth. I would like there to be less realm level gap though ![]() Alb is the toughest realm to build an effective pickup group in. The nature of the skills being spread over so many classes mean you always miss something that a Mid or Hib FG has. This is well recognised since, well, forever. In alb it is extremely important that the playing personalities fit together in order to balance out the ability defecit. For example, imo, a sorc needs to be pure CC, debuffs and rupt, a caba needs to be NSing and diseaseing but they need to be very aggressive with DD, and a theur needs to balance CC/rupt with assisting MA. I think the reason that mid is the simplest realm for people to play is because classes have clearly defined roles in the group. I'm not saying that its easy to make a mid FG that conquers all, just that in my daoc rvr experience it is easier ![]() In terms of rvr, the classes in the game with the most util are savage (best pure dmg output in daoc), shaman(buffs/heals/shears/endu/disease+insta-disease/root/ichor), healer(buffs/mez/single root/castable amnesia/stun/insta-cc/heals/insta-heals) and light eld(stun,Dmg,red NS, red D/Q db+other debuffs, disease). I don't think that the things mythic has given alb has compensated for that defecit (1875,400r mez/demez on Mincer/non cc-able theur pets). It has been said that when you choose a realm now, if you intend to rvr a lot, you choose your difficulty level: Easy, Medium or Hard .. I'll let you figure out which is which xD I think that overall the realms have relatively equal numbers RvRing in 8v8, so choose what you want. |

In term of utility, youre forgetting 3 more classes. Sorc, warden(even though he lacks a lot due to missing slam), rm. One could also add the minstrel: gimp who can do all, but everything he does is crap besides his speed, and mentalist who more or less can only DD and heal, but performs in both quite well.
But overal, i completely agree with your opinion! |

Light eld > Dark Rm
DD, low-dmg ae DD, a/e SCd, a/e DQd, Single debuffs, Stun, Red NS, Ghetto ae Mez, ae Disease, vs. DD, med-dmg ae DD, a/e DQd, Single debuffs, Root, Blue NS Am i missing something else? Cba to check through all the spell lists so that is from memory. Ofc that is char-for-char, and you have to remember that any mid caster has usually 3x sets of instaheals to heal them as opposed to 2x sets for other realms - although not sure about grps here whether all run 3 healers? As for sorc, remember, sorc has DD but doesn't spec for dmg. Sorc is the only CCer who is weak and cannot heal himself, sorc relies on being able to cast for interrupts. But overall I probably agree sorc is one of the best pure casters in daoc. Pros of sorc: best castable mez by far, castable amnesia, debuffs and single target root (ae root is poor use of root timer), RR5. Some damage on assist. ?Pet (good unless you die) Cons of sorc: low HP, low abs, no uninterruptable self-healing(Bard:AM, healer: 2x instas), no instant mez, no instant stun. In terms of sorc it is a fun char to play, and is one of alb's 3 certain classes in group, but in the 0-range INC situation sorc is weak compared with the other mezzing classes. Ofc, it is about adapting playstyles, by getting PD, or maybe MoC/QC reset RA(forgot the name). Also maintaining excellent positioning and knowing when to kite. One of the main strengths of mid in the mez battle is having 2-3 demez per group. This is a massive advantage over hib and alb who will mostly have 1. |

Dunno if alb is really worse to hibernia. A sorc has loads of utility compared to bard. Theurgist is a really usefull class. Cabalist has NS, disease, and debuff dmg which are in my book 3 of the strongest abilities in game, atleast on Uthgard. Alb doesn't have much spike dmg compared to hib casters or mid melee but they compensate with a bucketload of utility. The right tactics and individual skill are pretty essential but from experience I know that playing with the right people and setup it can definitely coop with fotm mid grps.
Same goes for hib grps really. Since melee setups are ******, in my eyes, you need to play with casters so requires right tactics and skill and good casters in hib are hard to find. Midgard well yea. Easy to play and have a ton of very strong ****** but definitely not unbeatable and most mids don't know how to use it. |

but dont forget that those abilitys are splitt 3 abilitys ... 3 skills to get NS you play DoT caba..not liked because of AE-dot, useless line except NS for RvR to get disease you need body line with is pretty useless except disease to get debuff you need spirit which is the petbuff line..here you get additional an AE snare.. or you go tri-spec ..than you get all but on a gimp niveau.. |
