Initial Question was, why NS/Ranger do more damage with Sword of Bedlam against a SB.

No no, my question was: why the same players who changed their weapon to this sword do much better damage now. I said i can understand low difference in damage but when the difference in 60 or 70 damage the difference is really big. And i asked if this sword has something special.
I used sb example because sword and axe are based in strengh, and norseman has the best strengh and with aug st3 or 4 cant do same damage or similar. Luri or elf has low strengh and slash is based on strengh. But we all know that luri or elf with aug st5 has not same st than norse with aug st3.

And il repeat my question was about damage with bedlam sword, no about why ns hit harder than sb.

Its something with the Armor resistences, or with the calculation of Blades dmg... blade dmg is based on str... ns/ranger get STRENGH!!!/ Con debuff, and they make such big dmg?

That cant be right, BUT i asked the staff and they say its all correct.

So, nothing more to say here eh? :?

I think the question still remains: is this basalt sword bugged so it gives more dmg than a normal blades weapon

situation is:

player X uses xxx blade weapon and does xx-yy dmg
player X uses basalt blade weapon and does more dmg than before

few explaining factors could be:
weaponspeed
mp/99 dmg difference
improved template --> improved str stat

but untill someone do a test with the following:

1 test round with: MP weapon, same str + qui and weapon speed as with basalt sword
1 test round with: basalt weapon, same str + qui as before

untill that has been done we wont know if basalt swords are bugged or not

we won't find out if there is a bug with basalt weapons

Satz wrote:Now then, lets check your values.

Usual dmg with 50+ comosite spec: 100%-150% on neutral armor

With pierce on midleather it would be 86%-130%
With blades on midleader it would be 114%-170%

Now, with your example we would be getting 14% more/less dmg due to a 10% bonus/malus on low peak dmg, and 20% more/less due to a 10% bonus/malus on high peak dmg.

Unfortunately, your way is the wrong one.
You show us the direct difference in values between 36% & 16% resi and multyply it with the speeddifference.

Just give it a thought, its not logical for the dmg difference between two dmgtypes to be about 50%!

ye im taking the gross assumption of the target having 26% melee resists

still armor resists work the way i describe them and are additive to other first tier resists and not third tier resists, which dont even exist

my fault for not writing that down

still you will not live to see the day im wrong about daoc

pierce: 36% resists which results in 64 dmg out of a 100 dmg attack
slash: 16% resists or 84 dmg out of a 100 dmg attack

(84/64)*(4.2/3.9)~=1.41

its like a 1 minute test to see that i am right

One quick question: In Albion, is the Basalt Sword of Oblivion usable ONLY in the offhand slot, or in both?

baalt sword of oblivion = offhand = useable in left AND right hand (as every offhand is)
