I have one question. How is posible that nss and rangers who used crafted items hited with 80-120 damage, now the same players who use Basalt Sword of Bedlam hit you with 160-180 damage. Is bug or this sword has something special?

80-120 cant be with slash damamge on SB WITHOUT str/con debuff. So I think they purge your debuff or use remedy.
Remedi maybe but i never saw them use purge and they did this damage. But can you explain the difference in damage? Now all run with this sword because do much better damage.
I'm using it, and I can ensure there is no any kind of extra dmg bonus.
What probably happened is this: people saw Dam using slash spec and making very good dmg, then they respec slash and aug str. |
What you mean? That 1 lluri ns do better damage than norse sb with slash weapon? Maybe yes with aug st 100000.

HA HA HA!
Mid leather is vulnerable to slash, hib leather is resistant to slash. There is 20% difference between those. OK, 80-120 vs 160-180 is not about 20%, but the delay is different, therefore higher dmg per hit but slower combatspeed. You must be exaggerating with your values. Assassins usually do 80-120 dmg on tanks, and assassins usually wear leather(so, no tankmode AF+ABS), therefore id guess a NS dealt on SB 120-140 dmg before(with good styles and piercespec), and does 160-180 now(with bladesspec and slower weapons). |

the listed damage (140-160) is about the same i do on SB´s..
but i am an highlander chicka with some dezent strengh without S/C charge. which race is/was the ranger/NS that hitted you? |
With slash on chain I hit ppl with bow for 160-180. With thrust 220-3xx.
Was ns luri.
I can understand if low difference in damage but when the diference is very very high... Last edited by vangonaj on Oct 25, 2009 22:39, edited 2 times in total.

The difference is high!
3.9 vs 4,2 weapons = rouhgly 7% difference due to speed. midleather is 10% resistant to thrust midleather is 10% vulnerable to slash 7%*20% = 26% Thats roughly the dmgdifference between blades and pierce. Ofc you should not forget that there is no stun for ns/ranger in their blades speclines. Their statvalue of about 70 basestr, vs roughly 100 strdex/2 on thrust results in about 6% less dmg per hit, but this penalty can be easily discharged with a little aug str. The biggest advantage is, that you do not need to cap dex in your sc, same as for SBs, this way you can easier cap all other stats, skills, etc. |

Tnx for explain.
doh, that hurt my eyes actually its (neglecting str/dex modifiers and slower weapon boni) (1-slashresist)/(1-thrustresist)*(slashweaponspeed/pierceweaponspeed)=slashdmg/thrustdmg~=1.41 so for your example its about 41% more dmg |
Now then, lets check your values.
Usual dmg with 50+ comosite spec: 100%-150% on neutral armor With pierce on midleather it would be 86%-130% With blades on midleader it would be 114%-170% Now, with your example we would be getting 14% more/less dmg due to a 10% bonus/malus on low peak dmg, and 20% more/less due to a 10% bonus/malus on high peak dmg. Unfortunately, your way is the wrong one. You show us the direct difference in values between 36% & 16% resi and multyply it with the speeddifference. Just give it a thought, its not logical for the dmg difference between two dmgtypes to be about 50%! |

I think everything has been said here.
Initial Question was, why NS/Ranger do more damage with Sword of Bedlam against a SB. Answer is: NS/Ranger usually use pierc weapons and so do -10% damage on Mid Leather. When using the Sword of Bedlam, they have slash damage and do +10% damage on Mid Leather. And the sword is slower than the slowest Piercing weapon. I personally still like piercing better, because of the nice Styles and because Blade Styles are not getting fixed for NS/Ranger, even though there are several well documented bug reports. |
