I have a problem on two of my characters. When I try to log in with them the client just freeze. It only happends to my characters that are in a dungeon or in a rvr zone (got one in DF and one in braemar).

It worked before on windows XP but I recently got a new computer with Windows 7 professional on it. Other than that I don't know what more is much different... same gfx card and such.

Anyone had the same problem and managed to solve it or know how to solve it? Tried to start the game in xp mode but it is the same there...

Yep, I have the same problem. Also with Windows 7. I got it to work with quick login, but after I installed MxN UI even with that it didn't work.

So, nothing on this?

Doesn't win7 have some kind of WinXP emulator, or run in winxp modus.

Yep, tried this, doesn't work.
I've found a way that works like once out of 20 attempts. You start the client normally, and then start DAoC Portal. And you QUICKLOGIN into your character. Try this a few time and in the end it usually logs you in.

The strange is, this only happens to some characters (my mains...). But my other characters I can log on no problems, even though they are in the same zone...

Reported this two times, no answer so far
This only happens on Uthgard for me btw.

maybe it is an item with a bug that causes you to crash or some other graphical gimmick on your toons? 1 specific drop maybe, tried taking all your equipment off and re logging to see if it still happens?

are those 2 characters of the same race?
tried switching cata models off/on?

Well it happens on 2 different characters, different races. How do I turn cata models off?

Edit: nm, found it. But still doesn't work

what i would do first is, turn off all custom client changes. Like remove the craftfix, and any other mods you got installed. Change to the default UI, so there is no custom UI, because UI can cause crashes too. Uninstall any manual changes you may have done. Maybe run the EU patcher , if any files are missing or bad. I think you do a file scan when you do that, to fix any problem, if there is any.

After all that try and log in. If it doesnt work, you can try running the game on compatible mode, if they got that on win7. Maybe make sure you got the game running on administration rights. Other then all that, i could also be windows side, hardware and so on. Or like they said, an item or what ever.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I've tried all the things above and same problem remains. I tried installing DAoC on a different partition too, nothing works

I also tried reformating and reinstalling Windows 7, no luck. Different drivers. Darkness Rising and Labby. Tried installing DAoC on my laptop (also Windows 7), same problem with the same characters. The only thingI haven't tried so far is the items thing, which I will do soon

Now I've tried the items thing aswell. Same result..

Okay I just stripped my char of all items, logged out and then tried to log in like 10 times in a row. Result? = Fail.
Anyway, then 11th time, I got in. I didn't change anything between the attempts.

Incase it's not clear enough, what happens is this:
I can get to character selection screen. pick character, then hit "Play". It will start to load (the screen that comes before the zone load) and when that bar hits 100%, nothing happens. Music still rolling, but it doesn't get into the game. Oh yea, and I only try with quicklogin now, pressing Play hasn't worked for a looooooong time, so everytime I tried above (including the succesful ones) has been with quicklogin.

Who can crack this riddle?

To make this even more interesting, here's a new thing:

A guy named Blandal (thanks!) told me he had a problem with crashing when zoning, but if he alt-tabbed out just before he zoned he wouldn't crash. Well I tried it on my log in, it worked. I can now log in every time. The problem is, it's with a messed up resolution. If I run in windowed mode it will log me in with a window that is roughly 3/5 of the screen. And it cuts everything (I can only see the top of my character and only left side etc). Tried same thing with fullscreen, and while it now shows the entire screen it changes to some funky resolution, looks like 800x600 or something like that.
Again, this is with quicklogin. Normal way didn't give me enough time to tab out.

have you tryed going into the game setting and turning everything to the lowest, and also changing the res to something lower, like 800x600. Maybe its a video issue. try also turning off new textures and trees, and models. Just keep trying diff things till you find something that works, then you can pin point the issue.

you can also try and ask a friend, that doesnt have this issue to log into your accounts and see if the problem happens. If not, then you know its not an item or related to your char.

The alt-tab trick was the closest one. Quicklogin + Windowed mode then alt tab out to a different program and make it run infront of the loading daoc window... and it logs me in every time now. "Normal" login still same problem though...
Strange and stupid, but atleast I can log in whenever I want now.
