Ive been leveling up my Celt Ranger, who is currently 46 and im trying to decide if i want to go 39+skill pierc or blades. I know i will have a little more damage stat with piercing weapons, but i like the styles in blades compared to piercing styles. Exept no stun since blade stun is based on blocking. I do like that blades has a 3 hit evade chain and fire/spectrum blade combo for the damage and defense bonus. But blades will be hit harder vs assasins str/con debuff, but pierc is 10% resistent to both enemy assasins and blades is 10% vulnrable vs SB and neutrl vs albs/infi. There is many factors to put together and im just wondering what you all think. 39 pierc/blades nothing less , nothing more and lower CD skills, so dont suggest CD styles.

I put 10 str/con/dex at the start and will be ether 31 or 40/42 PF at 50. I do not have the necklace for the str/con buff , only pot.

Well, id guess, if you go for purge3 first, instead of other gimmicks, you should go blades, since youll be able to purge stun&poisons anyway.
If you want to go pd, mos, ip etc first, then go pierce, since you wont be doing so good with blades without purge.
Go blades, 50 CD for ridicolous out of camoflage sidecombo^^. IF youre lucky then, you might be able to nearly kill an assassin with that one.

Purge, reapply. Nope doesnt work. I had a lvl 50 luri and i know that trick, so purging it isnt allwes the best choice. And ive killed many assasins with 34+14 pierc, 18+14 CD. Not easy but possible and that is without IP, without PD and with 40 bow spec and not even a shot fired. So beating an assasin isnt something im afraid of on my new ranger. Plus im not going 100% melee on my ranger.

I know that you have beaten many assassins with your luri bowspec ranger close to towers, having your ncocoon-bot inside the tower.

It is likely that there are some gimped assassins out here who can loose to something like that aswell. And with some luck(evade), you can kill close to everything, but the point is in your efficiency. Whats your win%? You gotta do something to increase it. And increasing dual swings, styleGR, defense are the right things to do.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, your talking about my ranger from Purga or Pycb or what ever the hell he re named it too. And i did that natures cocoon thing to just ****** off people, before it got nerfed lol. And it worked hahaha lol. But i was talking about my lvl 50 rr4L8 Luri ranger here on uthgard a few months ago named Eclipsed. And no, i didnt camp a tower or keep, unless there was a siege going on, if youve been out in agramon/nf, youl know there isnt much action at them, so by doing so id never get RP. And now you say , adding or double teaming and so on, but no i also do alot of soloing vs many classes. I win and die. But since ive gotten bored of being a little pint size char and know that HP affects your chance to live more, then the high dex that affects the bow which isnt worth it. I decided to go with a celt, which opened up the option for blades too. Will have lower bow damage and qui, but bow damage never was that great, no reason to depend on it.

God i love the kids from Purga , they only remember me for that like trick to ****** them off lol. I loved it. And yes i was more of an amatuer on purga, was the first ranger and time really playing daoc, but ive learned alot and enjoyed the old days, like owning ck in agramon on purga for like a week as the Guild leader of The Brotherhood. The keep was lvl 22 or so, but it made it fun to defend it from the 3 full grps of albs and mids that tryed to take it lol.

i think ip2 purge1 (better2) mos3 is a *must have* for melee ranger

im 42path 39blade 35cd 35 stealth 14 bow and imd doing very well ,...

for hybrid i d go 35bow 36path 39blade 35stealth rest CD i guess

but blade ftw ,.. or do u plan to kill many chainmails?

btw u can purge stuns with purge1 good too ,.. with some practice and sometimes some luck , as good as with purge2

I did kill some chainmails and it was fun
I had 50 Piercing at a time and i still have 44 now.

I would like to try other specs and blade would be one of them, but with all the lines not properly implemented (savage and reaver have them all 100% fine, that was a high priority), i dont feel like wasting 2 respecs.

For the staff it seems that:
a) Its no priority
b) They dont want to hear the QQ of all the people who think Rangers and NS are already OP and would be even more OP if they had properly implemented Styles.

No, it's like the staff has 1000 things to do at the same time and the bug report here is not one of the 10 with the highest priority to test, confirm and fix.
Sry, we only have 24h a day to work for uth and we do not have many DEV's...but you know that...

To be honest i could not say if a ranger is or isnt OP because you can't find a solo one anyways.
