No, the only way to use them is using DAoCPortal.

Have you tried to install Servicepack 3? Have you tried to install version 3.5 of the .net framework? Have you tried to reinstall daocportal?

the 3th and the 2nd of your question yes but the firsts nope and i never used service pack 3 before cuz the day before i format my pc everything was fine
like i've been in taj 1 but when i reinstall windows xp and service pack 2 then downloaded daoc portal installed btw daoc portal autodownload net framework 2.0 and treid 3.5 newest version but no differents between them

the only way for me to a mod is if someone extract them in another location and i put them in data, etc ...

and this is the first time i got this annoying error but for service pack 3 then i'll need to download it :/

hope this information helps a bit

In my opinion, just get Service Pack 3 ... :] Latest technology etc, best security etc. Be warned though, it will take half an hour - 2 hours to download / install... but worth it.

If you have any problems with it - let me know, I downloaded it Sunday!

This problem can be solved following steps:
0.- Uninstall daoc portal.
1.- Install SP3
2.- Install Framework 3.5+
3.- Install last daoc portal.
