Im leveling up a char and went from using a crafted set of armor i had to some DF stuff, since the old crafted stuff had gotten to low level. But while i was playing i started to wonder about something with armor absorb. So my question is, does armor quality effect the absorb value on the armor, like 19%. Now i know it effects the effective AF you get from it. But would it effect the actual 19%. Like would a piece of crafted armor, that was 100% quality but a lower level, so the effective AF was lower. Or would some higher level dropped armor that was lets say 90% quality but still had the same effective AF as the other lower level armor. Since the effective AF was the same, would they absorb the same amount of damage or does the quality effect the absorb value too, as it does with the AF.

Im not having any armor choice problems, just curious if it does or doesnt. Its smart to know how the game works.

im sorry I can't answer 100% but kinda and kinda not

on live:

absorb = not affected by quallity
AF = affected by quallity (but since AF works like absorb to melee dmg this means that the overall absorb of dmg will be higher with higher effective AF value)

a normal term when making templates on live was:

+10 AF = 1% absorb

how it works on uth I am unsure though

so to answer your questions: no absorb is not affected by quallity, however it indirectly will be because the effective AF works like absorb (atleast when you look at the dmg done to you, cant say anything about the code)

Like Nixian said..there is a corelation between Af qual type of armor etc, my advice to youis to keep the parts that have higher effective AF.

Ya i fiqured that. I understand the effective AF part, just wasnt too sure about the absorb value and if quality had any effect on that directly. My char is fine though, hes got a full set of DF stuff to max my stats, skills and decent effective AF. I could seek out better crafted stuff, but not for leveling, ill wait till 35 BG for crafted set. Only thing i want crafted for leveling is weapons for DPS.

But thanks for the replys.

Quality only affects effective AF

If two items have the same eAF (like AF90 Quali: 100% and AF100 Quali: 90%) it doesn't matter which one you wear.
