Hey there,
I've just decided to roll a mid and I can't seem to decide which class to choose. I've primarily got my eye on the "Shaman", but also checking out the "Healer" and "Skald". I like playing a supportive class, preferably something which will make joining groups and lvling more fun. So my question is this, which are the most needed classes? Thanks for any constructive criticism and help for me to make my decision =) Happy Hunting! |

Shamy and healer are always needed, skald as a hybrid is needed too, but i ve seen a couple of them lfg every day, so if u want to get in groups by 99,9% seer class is the best choice, if u want to have the chance to level alone too, roll a skald.
At my oppinion, every class is needed, some more, some less, so there s not to say roll this or that, its the choice of every player for himself, and style he wants to go for it. Hope i could help |

What Qeo said, all depends on which function you want to fulfil in a group, seers and speed are needed in any composition. Aug healer isn't perhaps the most exciting seer to play but it's essential in a tank setup.
Pac healer is much more tricky to play but it's perfect if you want to lead your group (what most people expect from a Pac healer). Shaman is good for you if you like to behave as a free electron, whether as heal support or for weakening purpose (the most fun). As Qeo pointed out, the skald is the only one that can run solo, but when you're a seer, you don't have to. ![]() When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty.

Wortex;
I play a shaman; and they are well rounded toons; sure you can solo PvE with them really slowly; but the aug line is nice and subterran has some lovely tricks up it's sleeves (such as the unique pbaoe instant diease) It is all really up to your play style. If you are quick on mez roll a pac healer; they are fun; shammy for buffs and weakening best for grps ![]() Skald is a over-glorified taxi driver; but again a very nice class to play and always fun ![]() |

Uum,....what about shams?!? You can soloplay or groupplay them depending on spec (RvR/PvE) and with with some spec you can even do both good (but only in PvE imo). If you like to be independent in the levelingdepartment dont hesitate to cave the ****** out of your shami, you can still (easily) get yourself a single respec (+ the free respec) at 40 and respec to a buff-whore if you like. |

I wish that were so, but in practice the probabilities for a cave shaman to be grouped decrease while the level increases, even in PvE. Blue buffs may satisfy the group needs on low levels, but you'll need the yellow ones once you reach your 40th. Not to mention endu regen. For instance, I tried to aim at the 38 aug 37 cave but I finally had to raise aug up to 42, because even yellow regen is just not enough (thanks to those big warriors with their big axes/swords, as well as the people who wont bother to take LW1...). There's no cave spec AFAIK which is group-friendly. If you start specing cave, you'll be solo all the way. It's a choice, you can't have both. ![]() When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty.

Thank you all so much for the info and input, i've decided to go for a shaman. =)
Havent lvl'ed a mid before so it might take some time to get the "xp-train" rolling, but my ingame name is "Roznok" if anyone feels like giving me and tips and hints , and again thanks for all the help and positive feedback. =) |

Midgard has enough healers, needs more shamans and also a dd is a good choice.

So there's a new shaman in town.
![]() I'll give you some informations for what it's worth. As shaman, most people will expect you to be aug speced. If you do, keep this line as close as possible from your current level, at least until your 40th (it's easier from then to allow points in other lines with half-levels). 42 aug is IMO the minimal amount of points that should be there. Cave line provides essential tools for your survival (insta-disease + ae root), 27 cave is the minimal to get both. Mending line may be discarded, although you need 7 points in it for cure poison/disease (you're a seer afterall). The 30% rez needs 15 points and is certainly useful in many situations. Further points in mending will reduce the variance in baseline heals whereas further points in cave will increase spell damages and reduce resist chances. Don't expect extraordinary damages from the cave line. Even if speced high, base dot and spec dot do not stack, bolt and dd are on a 20 sec timer, and dot damages are lower than a cabalist or a mentalist. When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty.

Shaman / Healer isnt the cakewalk that you would think it is.. Unless you have a set group.
You will run into the issue of no groups in your level range at times. Mainly in the 12-38 range. I would have at least one melee lined up to level with if your planing support. |

I never had Problems finding Groups with my healer, most of the time i had do reply to sends with "sorry, already have a group" or with "no time atm, sorry", and they were not few.
At least in Battlegrounds, if there is anybody in there, u will soon be picked. And with my Shamy it is the same, though i can´t tell much about the higher Levels for hes 27.. |

Same goes for any class, but I can tell my sham has leveled way faster than any of my other toons. Of course there were times I couldn't find a FG because there were too many shams on the place, but I could always manage to find a solo player who was more than happy to get his own personal sham whereas I was 5 or 6 vls below his. Often, that duo would turn later on into a FG. ![]()
There is a fair amount of shams on the high levels indeed, but only a few of them with a real dedication to support on the long run. I could even be grouped in NF whereas I was only 49 with no SC. ![]() When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty.
