guys im planing to role a thane.
but everybody is telling me that once i reach lvl 50 i wont get group for rvr.
is this true?
I mean i know that a big part of this depends on my skills as player.
Its obvious that if i broke every mezz around by using AOE i wont get group.

But i mean beeing a regular player ( because im not pro but im definitely not a noob. I know how to play a tank. I've played arsmans, reaver, hero, bm. SO im used with melee classes.)
Is that hard to get rvr group?

Another things that the ppl told me about thane is, that Thane Template is one of the hardest to get. is this true?

One last thing. I was thinking in an hibryd spec something like 46 CS 42 shields 44 weapon.

Hope that you guys can help me.

Thanks ind advance!

Bye bye.

hi lionardo,

thane is not fotm on uthgard, but still acceptable in many grps if you can play him well - as you said: don't break aoe-mezz, know what your role is in your specific grp. For me, a defensive thane could be really interesting, nuke assisting a caster, then slamming+snaring (hammerspec) tanks, and set a ST in the right spot (lordroom for example).

for that matter I'd prefer this spec: frostalf-39hammer/42shield/50storm

cu out there

Hi,

its true, the template will be very expensive (comparable to skald template imo), but basically all chain templates are expensive. If u wish to make a crafter i would advise u to make a tailor (since basic craft doesnt work here as i had to learn a few days ago^^), so u can skill this craft cheap (to have a second income by salvaging df-stuff. On the other hand u probably can do much better money in PvE, since Thane is a very good PvE class imo, and (at least with the other trades i skilled) it takes very long to get the profitloss for training back through selling your crafted stuff.

For RvR Thanes are also good, cause they have a good utility (rupt -> caster/archers; aoe -> shrooms, eles; slam -> dds, tank/guard/protect -> support,...). If i were looking for a tank i would choose a warrior over a thane, but as second tank or if the tankbusiness is not essencial i would prefer grping a thane.

With ur selfbuffs u will help supporters to spare a bit conc for others.

I like the thane (in grp; dont think ill play one on my own)!

It is very rare that you'll see a /broad or /lfg "looking for thane" (if u see such message at all^^), but that shouldnt keep you from rolling this class, even if it seems that they are not likely to get in a rvr-grp.

I love the thane but i think in lvl 50 he isn't a good tank and shouldn't played like a tank - when you wana play a tank choose a worri and you will be much happier!

I like to play him with 2h Hammer ( Hammer 46, Stormcalling 48, Parry 37) - and since the new RA system he is much better than before.

He is a Hybrid and so its a good grp filler can do good melee and range dmg and so he is usefull in a lot of situations.

My first char on this server is a thane.

Maybe because I am after a couple of years a familiar sight (although a rare spawn and far from being a good player) I get groups whenever I really look for one.

On the other hand the thane is in not a single aspect really good. Rupts can be done better by other classes. 1on1 you can be good if you spec for it with purge, woc3 etc... but you will be far from being invincible. Tanking? No way. Damage? Pfffff...

Your spot is: it doesnt hurt to take a well played thane, if you have a slot for a random class in your group.

In terms of speccing I strongly recommend 50 stormcalling, 42 shield, just as much hammer spec as you need for backsnare and cap (considering your RR) and the rest in parry.

Oh... one aspect for groupinvites: just try to be a person that others like to have around. A certain sense of humor helps a lot along with a lack of l337 kewl d00dish behaviour.

Just my 2 cents

Everything you need to know about the Thane class is contained in this one awesome-beyond-words sentence:

Sethor wrote:Thane:
...
this class will become an almost unstoppable selfbuffing killing machine due to the fact that buffbots are forbidden on Uthgard!

Thane, a, noun. Short for: An unstoppable selfbuffing killing machine.

DPS Thane ftw.

42 Shields 45 Stormcalling and 44 hammer (qoute me if I am wrong; this is coming of memory and no active toon builder on my internet is allowed)

Lay down on the slams; and cast your way to victory.
It's a hard spec to get used too; but once you get some RAs you will be unstoppable 1v1 and a problem for groups; if you don't break mez :)

I really liked playing this spec on Live; and just laying the smack down.

It takes a bit of getting used to and just running around and slamming people; but once you have this down pat; and can get good and quick with it; you will be the OP toon that people are talking about.
