Last night in Braemar we opened the doors to the ck but an Animist was sitting inside the castle tower. He put ~10 shrooms behind right behind the door. When I came near the door I was 10hit, well, eventually one-hitted. This animist was sitting inside and happliy defending that keep against fgs. How to deal with such a situation? how to neutralize shrooms AEing through doors?

kill the doors and step out of view! shromms got 3 seconds casttime and 750 range. Which means that you should have had enough time to realize the threat and hide on the side.

Then you simply had to ask a sorcerer/healer to mezz the shrooms, or a wizard/spiritmaster/cabbalist/runemaster to area-kill em.

Easy, is it not?

Either it was a lag issue or that Animist did cleverly cast his shrooms in 3 second intervals so that the whole phalanx hit me at once.

As to your suggestion (Alb): AFAIk only an earth wizard can cast through doors with ground target or am I wrong?

BTW: is the fact that shrooms cast through walls considered a bug or a feature?

Are you sure he put them behind the wall and not into a window or such?

Well, I for sure didn't see them in the windows next to the castle tower door if you mean those.

he could also have placed them on the balcony edge where they might be able to cast at you down below

but as said.. they have a 3 sec castime.. unless the ani is good at positioning them it should be easy to avoid them

next time I will have a very close look :-)
but as I said those shrooms hit me at once, I instantly dropped.. looking at the combat log I saw "You have been hit for xxx dmg" 10 times in a row. either lag issue or very nifty planting by that Animist.

Not nifty at all, they just plant as many as they can in a single gt behind a corner. Fooled you twice shame on you ;). Just turn your sound on and when you hear them casting, and hopefully see them, play with los. Animists like those, so called cornercampers, are actually quite an easy kill once you figure out how to avoid the nukes.

for mid it is handy to have a thane around, shrooms seem particularly weak to the big blue hammers :P

we rolled thru a double animist defense with really strong eld/bard support at beno raid the other night with a pretty minimal setup, pirith was on thane laying the smackdown on thier shroom stacks.

Not to mention that animists become exponentially weaker the better their opponents become. They're a joke at 50 RvR :P
