If the correct formula can't be determined after 60,000 hits with various variables, then I question the sanity of the analysts.

Block, as of now, is useless. There's no reason ANYONE should use a shield since it wouldn't give you anything other than a reduction in damage, and a tiny chance to block once every few enemies.

This should be one of the top priorities. All of the tank classes are 100% broken at the moment, and you'd be better off playing a zerker/savage/blademaster/mercenary than an actual heavy tank.

How hard is it to go into the code and make damn-sure the .5% per skill point of block is actually working? That would be a good stop-gap until the formula can be tested.

Otherwise, I reaffirm my demand for a respec so I can drop shield entirely.

Any updates on the block rate? I'm level 40 and need to know if I should take my weapon/parry to 50, or if I should just do my 44 weapon, 42 block, and 46 parry build.

Thanks much.

Another question, relating to the block rate. Did DAoC ever implement on-block reactive effects on shields? Either via dropped equipment or alchemist tinctures?

if you apply a reactive proc on shield it should launch when the shield is hitted..

if you apply a weapon proc on shield it only should launch if you use shield as weapon for slamming, right noch the common weapon proc on shield is working like a reactive AND a weapon.

since this is all the same for all realms i see no big deal with it.

How's testing coming? Looking promising?

New development.

Somehow, when I was drunk most likely, I got one point in master of blocking. I notice that I now block at least once a fight. My block rate when from base 5% or whatever it was, to about 15%.

Now, 15% is about what my block rate should be from skill alone, so with everything combined, it should be about 25%.

Well, MoB was known to serve as a sorts of cap breaker for block before in DAoC. In example, classes who could use shields but couldn't spec it would take MoB and then their stats would count while blocking more, or something like that. It was never official, but still pretty well known. Maybe it works a bit like that here.

You could be right, though, if they're having this much trouble with the shield code, live and here probably use different codes. No way to tell without seeing the source of it.

It could be any number of things, though, like maybe block rate isn't affected by ANYTHING at first, just the base 5%, until you get MoB, at which point it could be affected by stats, but still not shield spec.

Hmm.

Yes, I recognized that a guarding warrior blocked every arrow for a svg for a longer peroid of time. Blocking vs arrows was high before. But it seems increased now..
