§2.10 Logging in 2 accounts for own benefits is not allowed for one user in any case. This includes Buffbots, a second character in group, another character crafting and even a mule character. Any violation will result in immediate account termination.

What if it is not for own benefits?

There is only a specific rule against buffbotting in an rvr environment.

buffbotting rule is in order EVERYWHERE..means: in RvR aswell as in homezones..

its simply forbidden to log 2 chars at same time..if its for your own benefit or not. doesnt matter at all.

§2.12 You may not grant anyone buffs in rvr areas while sitting in your safe zoneentrance and being away from your computer, as this is buffbot use.

My bad, I expected people to know the rules before answering this thread. Oops.

Where does it say this? The 2 rules which could be considered as referring to dual logging do not cover my question - hence why I asked.

Which case(s) would lead you to use an additionnal account without being for your own benefit?

I'm in an exp group on my twink, friend is playing his char and asks if i can bot/transfer etc for him... just as an example.

This leads to another question which isn't covered in the rules: Is buffbotting allowed if a friend is logging his shaman/cleric/druid to bot me?

AFAIK buffboting on Uth=dual logging.

So if a friend logs a shaman to stand around idly and buff you, that's not buffboting. But if that friend has another char logged, than it is buffboting.

Well there is no coverage of that in the rules, Nymeros. Would actually appreciate a GM answering this. Don't want to get banned over something which isn't clear in the official rules.

I took it to mean two different people playing through a router is OK, but one person logging in twice is not.

If another player benefits from you dual-logging, that player gets more powerful (by whatever tiny amount). Thus the realm that player plays in benefits from it, and since you have characters in that realm too, this all is for your own benefit again too.

The only way to exploit this "for own benefits" clause that I see would be to log in chars in different realms, and play one char during the other char's downtime, all of this solo, without helping or better even without interacting with any other player.

Doesn't look like it's worth it to me. Probably better to just remove "for own benefits" from §2.10. Otherwise, it could really use some clarification :).

You can't say that I have an Nth degree benefit without drawing a mass of assumptions.

just only log one char, and thats it. dont discuss it, or the rules will be 200 lines instead of 5 soon. and dont go afk with that char more than a "normal amount of time".

This is the only chance for a definite answer. In the meantime, I'd assume the worst. :D
