It's lost anyway if people just reroll to stay in the battlegrounds (I have several characters in the BGs, slowing my entry into Agramon on every one of them because I, too, enjoy BG play immensely), or they quit playing Uthgard altogether because they don't want to play in Agramon for whatever reason. You can't make people do what you want. They must be enticed to do it. |
|
I doubt the /rp off command would entice much people to play in NF. Besides, nothing prevents you from playing in BGs, you said yourself this was exclusively what you were doing. When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty.

Yes, but what I'd love to be able to do is keep a healer in the battlegrounds (you know, one of those classes people don't play enough of and the BGs seem to be always lacking) to help out or just have some fun on when it is needed. I don't really want to create a new healer every month just to stay in the BGs. You seem to have missed the point. If people don't want to go to Agramon, NOTHING will change that. And I did not say that I play exclusively in the BGs, I just enjoy them and have many characters in various stages of progression through them. |

Don't get me wrong dude, I have nothing against BGs. I had/have myself good times in it and I can understand why people like this gameplay. This said, the main reason why (amongst some others) people don't want to play in NF is that they don't want to face high RR players or simply put, players with higher abilities.
If the rp off command was to be implemented, you'd face the same players in Braemar (no high RR but full stuff players, nothing newcomers will like very much), and there would be no activity whatsoever beyond that, and most of all, no possibilities for players who want to play in NF (yeah, they exist too). At the top of this, you can add the way GMs (you know, the people who invest time and money to let us play) want their server to be. You may agree or disagree with that, but how things are to be done is still up to them. When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty.

Oh, so now it's a defense for newbies? I was a newbie. I rolled up every crafter and have all my BG characters decked out in full SCed gear. So do a lot of people. This doesn't take that much work on Uthgard or live. Low level crafters are easy and cheap to roll. With a couple of hundred gold (easy enough to get in Vendo) you can roll up a crafter to a fairly decent level and have crafted gear for BG play. As for the last part, how about letting the admins speak for themselves? It may be that /rpoff is not implemented simply because it was buggy so it was taken out. It may equally be that they didn't like the idea of it, but they read my post and become convinced that there's actually a compelling reason to have it (and simply not enough reasons to leave it out). Needless to say, let me offer my opinions, you offer yours, and stop trying to make this into an arm-wrestling contest where you try to defend the status quo out of some misguided belief that your opinions are more important than mine. Good day. |

Do some research in the forum and you'll figure what admins think about this. Do you really think this is the first time this topic is debated? ![]()

I took your advice and looked it up. You are completely wrong. It was removed because of a bug. Too many gravestones would accumulate in the BGs and crash or lag people severely. http://www.uthgard-server.net/modules.p ... ight=rpoff It's a good thing I can read Deutsch, huh? I think the simplest solution here is probably just to set a timer on gravestones. If they are not reclaimed within a couple days (only in the BG) they disappear forever. XP loss on Uthgard simply isn't that bad. Kill one or two mobs and you make up for the XP on a tombstone anyway. As for the rest, I am not being baited into an arugment with you. Learn some manners. Having an anonymous handle on the internet does not forgive poor behavior. Uthgard is a friendly server. Let's try and keep it that way by not starting fights on the forums over matters of opinion. Allow me mine, and I'll allow you yours, and the devs will decide on their own what they want to do. |

Too bad, I don't read German. Try the English topics, they should enlighten you a bit more.
My manners were as good as yours. If you approach me with respect and kindness, I'll do the same. Try it. ![]() As:

Gravestones don't appear when you die in rvr, what's this about gravestones in the battlegrounds lol.
Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
|
|
When you are fight on a wall or a bridge, you take damage from a player.
Anyway, if you fall while fighting the game considere your death as a PvE dead, so you loose xp and constitution, and then a Gravestone appear when you release. BTW is not really the aim of this topic, is it ? ... |
|
What you checked up was why /xpoff was NOT removed.Thats because ppl would simply suicide to stay in BGs.
The reason /rpoff is not ingame anymore, even though it worked very well,is that you should not be able to stay in a BG forever with your char. The game is made for lvl 50 RvR and not for BG RvR,and thats why your toons should reach Agramon sometime without beeing able to BG RvR any longer. Thats the Devs opinion on this topic.Do some research and you will eventually find it.

This server's bg population must be really clumsy if they fall off walls to their death so often that it causes the zone to crash with so many gravestones ![]() Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

This is actually a bit sad. Just yesterday I was thinking that it is really odd to have 600 players and only a small handful running around in NF. And by that I don't mean Agramon. Agramon is the playfield for 8vs8, I guess that is well established now. But come on - if there are in fact so many people who enjoy taking and defending keeps, it should be possible to do just that in NF instead of hiding in the BGs. I would really like to see more people outgrow the BGs (both in level and skill) and just help populate the part of the game that makes DAoC so fun. Defending and raiding keeps is so much more fun in NF than in the BGs imho
Hibs had claimed Beno and all Albs were able to mobilize was one lousy group + stealther adds that spent most of the time sitting in a neighboring tower . At the same time 2 FG Albs where roaming in one of the BGs... come on -.- |
|
I think OF will bring out more people to lvl 50 RvR.
The l33t 8vs8 groups and zergs will be in emain ofcourse, but you will be able to find small skirmishes in Odin's Gate and Hadrian's wall, im sure. Especially if the GM's introduces xp bonus accordingly, like for frontiers for an example: Odin's Gate 40% (On selected areas ofcourse, ie not next to APK or HPK ![]() Yggdra/Uppland 10% Jamtland 20% And about the population, we're about 700 on primetime, and compared to live that would probably mean a population of at least 1000 (No buffbots here you know) |
|
Well yes, OF may actually do that - fingers crossed.
Wonder how they will implement keeps tho - I imagine it will not be trivial to put NF keeps into OF (even tho they are not hard-coded objects), just because the original locations are to small for NF keeps ^^ |
