You won't be killing any assassin with a piercing (leather = resistant) spec, especially that low.
Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

sure you can kill assassins with piercing weapons (if not - no wonder my Nightshade sucks so much ![]() however I agree you need more CD and min 36 pierce as RR5 to do much in melee against assassins |

Yeah because rangers have dot and str con debuff poisons to help them kill with crappy melee skills ![]() Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

Don't go 50 bow. Not worth it. Not worth it for anyone, under any circumstance. There is no such thing as 'snipers' on Uthgard. An RR5 Ranger with 35 in Bow will be just as good of a sniper as one with 50 bow. The only practical difference is Volley, and that's more like artillery.
![]() Just do some kind of split spec Ranger. Gather up some defensive RAs and you'll beat just about everything. Ask Fresa or Gerbald what their specs are. Both are excellent Rangers who will give you lots of good advice. Last edited by Seyha on Jun 14, 2009 06:08, edited 1 time in total.

i thought higher weapon skill means the enemy will parry evade block less so if i go 50 bow 70 with rr and items my arrows will hit more then some one with 30 bow 50 from rr and items ?
why are stealthers so afraid to run unbuffed ?

The weapon skill difference between an archer with 35+15 bow and an archer with 50+15 bow is small. Maybe 6-8%. In most cases it will take the same number of arrows for both Ranger types to kill a target. So a 50 bow spec archer is hardly a 'sniper' in the specialist sense of the word. The only difference is Volley, but few archers use it effectively.
You don't see a real disparity in bow damage until you start comparing Rangers with less than 35 spec in bow to those with high bow spec. |

Not true, just look at Ronia. He was a hybrid ranger and could even kill Viper3 assassins. Furthermore he even dealed some nice bow-dmg. But volley is really worth training it, some scouts can take their opponents down within several seconds due to slamming and then using volley. |
|
Yep. But it is hard below rr5-6 (because Ranger needs some decent RAs) Ontopic: I would recommend to use autotrain until you hit 48, in order to use my old spec: 34 pierce (anytime chain), 29 cd, 35 bow, 40 pf, 33 stealth (stealth seems a bit low and Assassins will see you without camouflage. But I liked this spec nonetheless. |

Because CD sidestun/followup are better than any piercing styles.

Yes, there is. I even recognized a difference in 49 or 50 Stealth (with item boni) Edit: Not in speed, but enemies see you better with or without camouflage (with 50 stealth and camouflage you can run through them. Not with 49..) |

Informations taken from www.roclar.net: Detection Ranges Archer Detection Range With MoS * Archer base detection bubble is 125 units + 625 units from MoS5 = 750 units detection bubble. * Archer base detection bubble is 125 units + 450 units from MoS4 = 575 units detection bubble. * Archer base detection bubble is 125 units + 300 units from MoS3 = 425 units detection bubble. Assassin Detection Range With MoS * Assassin base detection bubble is 250 units + 450 units from MoS4 = 700 units detection bubble. * Assassin base detection bubble is 250 units + 300 units from MoS3 = 550 units detection bubble. * Assassin base detection bubble is 250 units + 175 units from MoS2 = 425 units detection bubble. Your Camouflage ability will negate your opponent's MoS. Everyone wants to know when they become visible to their opponent. Usually, the question is asked by a young scout with 35 + 13 = 48 (for example) total stealth. An assassin is hunting you and your camo is down Your opponent is a level 50 nightshade/shadowblade with MoS2 (most common). For every level of stealth you are missing below 50 effective they get another 50 units of detection radius. [50-48]*50 = 100 unit bonus vs you. So the detection radius vs you would be 425 + 100 = 525 units. An archer is hunting you and your camo is down Your opponent is a level 50 ranger/hunter with MoS3 (most common). For every level of stealth you are missing below 50 effective they get another 20 units of detection radius. [50-48]*20 = 40 unit bonus vs you. So the detection radius vs you would be 425 + 40 = 465 units. Now you can decide what's right for you. Substitute your real level of stealth for my examples. |
