I like the server so far. But I have some questions, as the last time I played DAOC was right before SI was launched. All I've played is classic oldschool DAOC, before SI and spellcrafting and alchemy.

#1 Does the ToA client need a custom UI for certain quests? I read something about that on the forum, and if it does where would I get a custom UI? I ask because I'm using the Darkness Rising client and I'm getting pretty bad lag and horrible framerates in the capital cities and I'm assuming RvR will be the same (that's even after setting my graphic options to minimum). It lags so bad some times that I go linkdead.

I also get this freeze-up effect when running around and new things get loaded. It's good as it lets me know there's stuff ahead :) But that kind of stuttering lag equals death in RvR.

I want to use the ToA client since I think it will be easier on this older computer of mine, but I don't know if everything ingame will be supported or if I need to install custom stuff...I do like the map in this DR client for instance, but does ToA have it?

#2 What armor resist tables does this server use? The old, classic tables or the revamped ones, where hibernia is all neutral to thrust, midgard neutral to crush and albion neutral to slash? These are the "new" tables; I don't know where to find the old tables.

#3 Is the server getting old frontiers like I think I read (but am not sure about)? And if not, is there some place I can read up and learn about the new frontiers? I know nothing about towers and how the new frontier works, all I know is the old. I got confused today when after doing /real I saw that hibernia had 3 out of 6 keeps, midgard 2 and albion 1, but midgard had Darkness Falls?

Sorry if I'm a little long-winded :) I'm just excited that I found a good DAOC server after getting this inexplicable itch to play the game again after all these years, but the classic game, not the current live one. This isn't true classic, but it's close enough.

If im not mistaken, you shouldnt experience any problems using toa-client, as long as its updated correctly untill you accept horsequests at lvl 50. As for a custom UI, try to google for any DAoC custom UI.

The dmgtables youve found are quite right, id just reduce em to armor type only, not describe any class in particular. There are no elemental weapons on this server, so you shouldnt be concerned about that heat, cold, spirit, matter stuff at all.

As for NF, well just keep leveling up to level 20, go to braemar, then wilton then thidranki, and when youll have reached lvl 50, youll know alot about NF for sure!

Each realm has 3 keeps in NF. 1 main-teleport keep with merchants, crafting ingredients and teleporters, 1 relic keep with 2 towers and 1 borderkeep with 4 towers. As long as the border keep has all 4 towers for its realm, you cen teleport there or use the main-rvr-zone teleporter in you main-keep. The Realm that owns most of the 18 towers and 3 keeps, owns DF.
Then, there are Braemar, Wilton and Thidranki, the 3 low-rvr-battlegrounds. You can access em from lvl 20 to 49, just ask the Channeler in the capitol cities for Battlegrounds. Each Battleground central keep gives an exp-bonus for the realm, owning it, you can check it with /realm aswell.

Actually, youll find out everything yourself while playing here, since its all easy to understand, good luck and get highlevel, i want more enemies to kill.

Except that I'm in Albion too. Well I have a character in Midgard, but I don't know which of my old DAOC characters I want to resurrect here first. For now it's Albion, the realm I enjoyed the most.

(No, I don't spy or cheat or anything, don't worry. I also like to roleplay but pretty much nobody else does)

Thanks for that informative reply. So you say I'll have trouble with a horse quest later on? Maybe I should use the Catacombs client?

For those quests, yes because they are available for DR+ clients on live, only but everything else should be working with SI or ToA just fine, besides the old, ugly models, which several people still prefere because they are used to 10 years old models.

Hmm so I couldn't even use Catacombs and get those quest. I have to think about this. DR gives me very long loading times when zoning and tends to lag when there's too many players around, like in DF.

Ok LotM it is then :) DR isn't bad with classic characters, except for the capital cities.

Umm,.. you actually heard of bolts some day, right?

Thought in case of bolts armor resist to the specific element does decrease/increase the dmg of them.
