so im thinking of starting a heavy tank on mid and im looking at the character builder. and my question is why choose a warrior over a thane thane gets everything a warrior gets + storm calling. what are the thanes weaknesses? does his strength con buff stack with shammy strength con buff. i understand that warrior is on a higher dmg table but does the thane dmg add still put him infront on dps. and warriors get more hitpoints but again does the buff put the thane infront again ?

and just off topic in another thread i mentioned new vendoo form suxors. any news as to weather we can get the old one implemented or made optional for those that want it.
why are stealthers so afraid to run unbuffed ?

Warriors can use large shields, thanes only medium.

Warriors get evade1, Thanes not.

Warriors get better protect than thanes.

Both classes get the same amount of skilpoints, so as a thane u can only compete with warrior in the warriorspeclines, if u don't skill stormcalling (you have to skill one or two speclines not as high as a warrior can).

If block rate formula is fixed there would be another + on warrior site : RA Dashing defense!

Edit: Forgot one! Warriors rock, Thanes not! :D

Gemma is absolutely right. If you are to play a heavy tank, there's no substitute to warrior. 50 in weapon, 50 in shield and the rest in parry: you can't ****** up a warrior spec. (don't bother with thrown weapon line, even Mythic said this line is useless).

Both classes have 2x skillpoints, so thanes can't have a good level in weapon/shield because of stormcalling line that needs a fair amount of points for workable buffs/DDs.

Thane is very special IMO. It's not a tank nor a damage dealer (some keep trying though). I'd say its function is rather healer's or caster's bodyguard.

you forgot another thing, warrior gets stoi, thane doesn't.

Thane is good for soloing, for play in group is better warrior you will have determination and thane can´t spec it.

thane CAN spec det but he doesnt have stoi so his ability to get out of cc is inferior to that of the warrior

Painfull... But this game never lacked masochistic people, I'm sure quite a few of them have tried it. :)

Warrior has ~300-400 more weaponskill than thane at 50.

actually according to some sources, warrior should have the highest weaponskill in the game, because he is on his own (highest) weaponskill table, even other realms' heavy tanks are on lower tables

http://www.dethguild.com/daoc/info/info ... ml#anchor8

same in charplan, warrior has more WS with same stats and spec as armsman

edit: also they get to pick troll which is THE tank race, but that is same for thane.
