Having tried everything suggested in these forums I still cannot connect to the server.
DollLoader refuses to accept the filepath given is correct;
"cannot find game.dll"
and Portal just returns errors/cant find server list/dosnt allow connect button.

Is vista an issue? Ive tried compatability mode/admin and any number of edited DLLs. re-downloaded and re-installed both DAoC and Portal.

I do hope i dont have to get out my old crappy XP machine and use that.

Any suggestion greatfully accepted...I really want to be back in the frontiers!!!!

//edit: Further playing with DollLoader and I can now get loading screen, but like others I get Service not available.

//edit: both ping and tracert timeout for server ip

maybe a problem with your firewall not accepting the connection to the server? :/

I had considered that and made sure it was allowed through, and just to be certain I disabled it briefly too. Windows firewall isnt on either.
In fact i took the the risk and shut down all anti-spy/virus/firewall.

It also dosnt explain Portal errors I keep getting though Ive given up on that now as Dollloader seems to be doing something at least.

this might be a solution for you

If you have problems with daoc portal here is another way to connect to Uthgard

1) download http://www.dolserver.net/releases/files/dolloader.exe

2) put it into a subfolder, for example programs/mythic/dark age of camelot/connect

3) create a text file in that subfolder with the following content:
Code:
@DOLLoader game.dll 89.238.64.166 10300 1 ACCNAME PASSWORD

and save it as a .bat
89.238.64.166 is the IP you want to connect to, accname and password obviously your desired combination.

4) start the .bat

if that is what you are using then i suggest you download the daoc portal and try that

Thanks again Nix but I've tried both Portal and dolloader and neither are working yet.

Portal just wont run at all..I just get errors.

Dolloader gets me to the games loading screen then I get "service not available"

As I cant ping or tracert the server and its not my firewall then it may be down to my crappy isp....aol.
not giving up yet though. I will get in somehow.

hmm hmm hmm

and daoc portal is correct installed?

ur on vista

tried installing it on a path that don't need admin rights to write to harddrive?

im using vista and as long as i run both camelot.exe and daocportal with admin + windows XP compatible it works fine for me

I had the same problem with DolLoader, switched to Daoc Portal, workes like a charm

(Btw, i asume you are running Daoc Portal as administrator if u're using Vista :))
As in Right-click, run as administrator

You may need to run DAoCPortal with administrator rights under Windows Vista, indeed.

searched all through these forums and tried every possible permutation of settings/admin/uac/firewalls and I'm still hitting a wall at the game load screen.

I think I will just give in and get out my old dusty XP pro machine and try that though its much lower spec it will run DAoC ok...as long as I dont hit too many zergs lol.

Did you really run it with administrator permissions?
