as long as most of those "honorable" "8v8"-yellers keep on killing solos and groups which consist of levelers or lower numbers i will not respect them
yes i also enjoy 8v8 but at times it happens people add in a fight, sometimes its revenge, sometimes its by accident, sometimes its just on purpose what i have been taught by many of those heroes, as holz called them, is not to care any more i dont care if i get yelled at i dont care if people dance on my body after they killed me 8v1 i dont care about adding only thing i care about is playing together with people i like ^^ |

Such discussions will never stop appearing on a daoc-freeshard-forum because of the lack of money one spends to play this game. On live people paid and respected each other because everyone paid and this way everyone tried to make the gameplay experience for others the best possible.
Here on the other hand, one doesnt pay anything which is why this kind of server will have children playing it, children who dont understand that those, other, characters are played by people and so they try to get the most of now, for their only benefit. They kill greys zerg solos, fight 3 fgs vs 1 ect. Its the way freeshards will always be played, and there is actually no but a brutal way to stop it. I do kill greys in DF, i do kill levelers in NF, and i would kill small groups with an FG because thats the way this game is played on such servers. I am pro solorvr, but only solo, not duos, so as long as i see only 1 solo roaming agra, and im in a fg, ill spare him/her but everything thats grouped, wont survive, same goes for levelers. They do have a chance to level on other spots, but they risk the possibility to be killed. If one would spare levelers in agramon, everyone would level there, and thats surely not the point admins wanted to make by applying the xp-bonus for agra. I also will keep killing greys in df and its for you to decide on my reason. Its for you to say that i love the thrill of killing 8 players with only 1 cast, its for you to tell that i enjoy showing the leveldifference, and its for you to think, that i do if cuz theyd add if i was attacked by an other lvl 50 for sure, or maybe because out of protest cuz i just dont have the possibility to fight 1vs1 in Agramon, etc. There are many ways to justify an action and i wouldnt mind playing the role of an evel warlock in this mmoRPG! |

Again the same combersation?????? OMG.

What is up? Irony as a last stand to protect your statements? Just leave it alone if you can't contribute anything of value, please. |

You are right imo. I do feel freeshards drastically change the general gameplay behaviour compared to live earlier on. When me and my guild started we agreed not to kill solos because they are not aiming for us either and it would only be in our disadvantage regarding possible FG incs. However not too long after, we encountered numerous solos we had let alive just when we passed em, adding in the fight we were having with another FG just bit further ahead, or just solo players that tend to instinctively attack FGs with whatever AoE they have. This drove us to the point that it was becoming better for us to in fact kill every soloer we see, because most of the time, they will add anyway. Nowadays we only let them live if they are having a 1v1 or whatever fight, aslong as they aren't free to add on us upon inc, because that's what they'll most likely do anyway. |

Saying live was better because people didn't add there is untrue.
Maybe on other servers this was the case but on mine zerging and adding happened constantly except for a few exceptions. Maybe it was different in these last years but from what I experienced live, however fun it was, wasn't quite the happy honourable land you claim it to be. |

Zarkor, let me tell you a little story.
It takes place about 2-2.5 years ago, on Uthgard. During primetime there was 100-150 people online, and endgame RvR was non-existent apart from the select few. Of course, back then I had no idea what NF RvR was like at that particular time. The highest ranked people were ~RR7. So there I was happily leveling my character with minimal BG RvR and high hopes for level 50 RvR, and I leveled pretty fast. Much to my surprise, endgame RvR was not RvR at all. It consisted of 2 hibernian and 2 midgard guilds (who shall remain unnamed) constantly fighting organized 8v8s via IRC. Albion didn't even exist. Robine was the only albion player in the top 50 ranks. Okay, no big deal, I don't care about other people's business. With only organized 8v8 fights between a few older Uthgard guilds, there was not much for a RR2 person to do besides add those fights. Also there were no soloers/duos in NF, stealthers camped DF 24/7 (I played together with a friend of mine the entire time). On my very first day of lvl 50 RvR on Uthgard I got unbelievably disappointed in it. We added one fight, the "OMG NO ADD blabla" spam in broad, vicinity and tell chat was endless. It wasn't long before I noticed that our own realm mates followed us and told the opposing realm where we were to kill the two of us so they could have their "fair 8v8" fights. However I didn't stop, no. I loved daoc and the way Uthgard provided it for me so I got a few rl friends to level with me again. Once we got to 50 we organised pick up groups for agramon, as many needed to wipe out the people who farmed high RR during the years NF was "dead". Of course they kept on whining about zerging, adding etc but I was finally getting a fair share of RvR at level 50 and so was everyone else that wasn't in those select few guilds. For a while my realm dominated NF and owned every single keep and tower for a few weeks time. Finally the other two realms got their act together and started forming pick up groups for RvR. Within a few months during our gameplay in NF the primetime population grew to over 300 people, the Agramon population grew from 2 groups IRc-arranged fighting to "zerg" fights every night (2+ fgs on every side). Hell I even remember GameMasters posting ingame pop-up news like "new record in NF 50 players! gogo more" and taking screenshots of those fights because such encounters were never seen before on Uthgard NF RvR. With that Uthgard RvR began to liven up, more and more players started to participate and I'm very proud to have initiated such a change on Uthgard. tl;dr version: Adding is not all that bad. Let it go. |

zarkor as much as I hate adding, if you want other people to respect your way of playing the game, you have to do the same and respect that they want to zerg and add.
|
|
Yup it certainly motivates players to take numbers over skill, that's right.
|
|
Just because you're fighting in equal numbers it doesn't mean you're skilled.

At least a forum moderator should be familiar with the server rules.
|
|
Put a sinner record with bad boys in your guild forum.
for adding, greykilling, lag jumping, insulting, spamming. ![]() did i forget something? |
|
According to the rules, there's nothing wrong with arranging adding and non-adding rules as long as you're not arranging fights.
Put a sinner record with good boys in your guild forum. Pretty sure that's a lot less work. ![]() PS: I like Vanquish, was the only enemy group to not add. <3 |
