I think the temporary re-implementation of the new camps has improved RvR, however some people's attitudes just ruin it comepletely.

Members of guilds XYZ*edit by haldan: name/guildcalling blatantly add on every fight they see and thereby ruin it for the opponents (mainly ourselves since we were the only non-mid group still trying to put up a fight, but gave up after getting added by the same FGs 3 times in a row. Also the Alb pick up zerg did a good job motivating the other realms to form zergs and decrease the RvR quality.

Last night, we tried to RvR and not to add fights as much as we could. We (Vanquish) apologise for adding the trauben caster grp once because we didn't notice you guys being in a fight already due to the fact that you stretched out. However we can't vouch for other hibs adding on our fights, which we dislike a lot because we also think of the opponent's RvR experience instead of only our own, NOT because 'we miss out on RPs', that is our latest concern really. (Besides, there's no challenge and thus no reward in zerging (besides some measly RPs), when adding or zerging you don't need braincells to make the difference, just numbers, which is far from what made DAoCs PvP so succesful. The complexity and skill-requiring gameplay in RvR is what attracts so many players.)

This is just a reminder to the mid groups that such a playstyle will only demotivate enemies from running out and eventually give u an in your face recoil because nobody wants to go out and fight anymore because it's just not worth wasting time and RPs to players that deliberately ruin fights and RvR experience from others by adding or zerging. In the end, this will ruin RvR for many of us, leaving behind a wasteland roamed by the biggest zerg, killing every inc on sight, whether it's a soloer or and xp group, not FGs however because they will disappear.

People that 'add on sight' should really rethink their RvR behaviour if not just for their own sakes.

Waiting for the fight to be over and attack right after will still get u an advantage, but will prevent the enemy from logging out. To everyone who brings up the 'it's just a game' argument to tell me to 'stop ******', I ask you: if it's just a game, then what is wrong with getting defeated in a fair fight? Why do you so badly hunger for every Realm Point you can possibly get? Does getting outplayed in the game or getting RPs really mean that much to you?

In the end, I play DAoC to have fun, and I hope you do too, instead of playing it to 'farm an ImBa amount of RPz!1!!11!!!one' and ruin other peoples entertainment. However if that is the only way you're enjoying the game, then you should really tell yourself that it's just a game and rethink how childish and selfish your attitude really is, since you're totally lacking any respect for the other people that are playing the game aswell.

This brings me to my general request; I would like to call for a bit more respect towards your Uthgard DAoC colleagues to create a healther and more enjoyable gaming environment. I even believe respecting other players is a lacking rule on this server. I agree that there should be no rule to enforce this in the first place, but as it stands now, I guess it's better to have one after all. Respect goes from not adding (fair) fights to not leeching XP or not 'stealing' spawns, in other words anything that ruins other people's game experience.

Thank you for considering this.

hmmm....

the time is 1452 AC.
the two warlords in the region, Black Guards Jarl Hendrick and Red Dragoners chief Constantine, send out groups of soldiers to pilage the enemies villages.

while Commander Beronson from the Order of the Black Guards and his men just arrive at Helingard, the Red Dragoners spot them and Commander Marcus orders his man to attack.

15 minutes into battle, a second batalion Black Guards coming from Notherbrad, a small outpost just a few miles south if Helingard, arive at the battlefield.

possible scenario 1)

The soldiers are well trained and stay in line.
Hengolfson, the comander of the second batalion goes over to Beronson, greets him and ask: "so, can you handle them or need our help?".
"not a problem, we can handles this. thank you for not adding", Beronson replies."

after the fight, Constantine, beaten but alive appears in Royal court, acusing Hengolfson of violation against the rules of conduct with his action in the battle against Beronson due to shifting the balance of the fight with adding.

possible scenario 2)

Hengolfson orders a flank attack on the Red Dragoners. they are greeted by Beronsons troops with loud cheers since victory is sure with the arrival of reinforcements.
after the fight, Beronson and Constantine, who survived the battle with minor injuries, bring Hengolfson in front of the king.
"he had NO RIGHT to add to our battle! this was an honorable fight and he and his man completly shifted the balance of strength on the field.
i hereby request this man to be hanged for adding!" states Beronson with fury in his voice. due to his injuries hes allowed to appear in front of the king being seated.
Commander Constantine, while calmer then Beronson, agreed to this sentiment. "indeed, while we won the battle easiely, adding into a fight is against the rules of engagement. this should not be tolerated, although i would plead for a lesser punishment considering Hengolfson impecable record up to this point".

the King considers carefuly and after what seemes like an eternety, he ruled. "im fully aware of Hengolfsons honors, but this incident cant be treated lightly. i hereby declare that Commander Hengolfsons is to be released of duty and banned from these lands, never to return."

hmmm...

I don't see why I should not be allowed to tell which guilds members were involved? It's only reality...

-Reality- vs. -Game-.

-Real life death- vs. -/rel, resurrection sickness before going back to the 'horryfing battle', practically no loss whatsoever-.

-Fighting for all whats dear to you, including friends and family, every single possession on earth, everything you've ever cared about- vs. -playing a game to enjoy your spare time-.

... do YOU get the picture?

I even think it's insulting to compare real life warfare compared to playing a medieval fantasty game the you play FOR FUN.

I guess just like each game needs it's childish and selfish griefplayers...

This is what DAoC has come to over the years I guess, people that didn't play back in those days do not hold the same respect for other players they did back then because they never witnessed how it actually worked and improved everyone's gameplay, so they hold on to their own precious 'acheivements' called 30 rps per kill and annoying other people while sitting safely behind their PCs with their mommies baking cookies in the other room. Sad, I thought DAoC was different, especially classic DAoC.

I do think I know what you mean, Blairo ...

And different people have different ways of having fun.

Speaking of childish and selfish griefers when you would make the top of the list with your epic whineposts.

A good and serious player would never whine in such a fashion about such trivial things.

When I RvR I expect RvR, I don't expect an 8v8 arena. Sure no one likes losing especially in unfair conditions but any intelligent person would embrace the fact that (thankfully) Uthgard NF is a RvR area, not an 8v8 arena, thus should be ready to face anything the environment can bring. Getting ****** over it will get you nowhere.

Also note: most of the fights you lose is because you played bad, not because someone added.

both ways can be .. very ...

If u just add on fights like Holzmichel to annoy the ppl "muha... 1l7" ... is jjust childish and to cry about every adder is also just childish .. think about that everyone wants to have fun.

btw Holz did name calling too = P

What are you saying? That real life war is a way of having fun?

I'm not whining, I'm asking for common sense and respect, I don't see how u can state this to be whining.

Trivial things don't make you /qtd do they? I'm not fond of creating threads just to shake up things for no good reason, I'll always try to argument my statement as good as I see possible, which is impossible to do when talking about 'trivial things'.

I don't expect an 8v8 arena, but I do expect respect for fights that give a lot of fun if fought fairly instead of blatantly blown away by an adding grp, totally eliminating any form of challenge and 'the will to win'.

Your note is just straight out ridiculous.

No I'm saying that your fun doesn't equal everyone else's fun.

Zarkor wrote:I'm not whining, I'm asking for common sense and respect, I don't see how u can state this to be whining.

When you're asking for is an 8v8 arena. Has nothing to do with common sense.

Respect has to be earned, you can't ask for it.

Encountering realm enemies in a realm vs realm environment and complaining about it = trivial matter/whine.

For the last time respect is earned, you cannot ask for it or expect it from people who don't know you.
Also there is no such thing as fighting fair in war, equal numbers does not mean a fair fight.

I admit I've not been too clear about the respect part.

I'll set it straight. I agree that you don't need to straight out respect players that haven't earned it or not. True. But I'm not asking for such mindless form of respect.

I'm asking to respect fair fights and to respect the challenge the 2 groups are giving eachother which creates the fun people get out of it. However, when adding a fight, you not only kill that, you also DEmotivate players to go out and RvR, affecting the whole server and RvR gameplay, even from the ones that added.

If you have fun completely destroying other players' gameplay, you're negatively affecting the server and the community and imo should be punished for it, such as already is enforced by rules on the PvE part but not on the RvR part.
