And for the invite, server is not enough populated to make such distinctions in order to fulfill every functions of a group.

My minstrel's name was nerfed from Zooooooooooooooooom (17xo's) to "Ferol"... who chooses these new names rofl...

and is there any way i can change it to another name that's to my liking... callgm doesn't get me any results...

probably just use a random name generator...

while these names are usually lame, you do get used to them... in fact i still use a random name i got used to from another game..

It is a bit dumb to enforce naming rules unless the name is offensive however, who really reads server rules anyways... it's common sense what is acceptable or unacceptable to do on a server, UNLESS the server has a bunch of stupid rules, like this one.

I can say i have never read any server rules ever, commercial or otherwise, and i'm sure i'm not alone... In fact i didn't even sign up for the forum or even go to the website before i started playing..

DaocPortal says you don't have to, that you just chose a name at it logs you in... i never clicked "I Agree" to any eula or "rules" so it seems really unfair to the impose such stupid rules on the players... it's like they don't have anything better to do than to flex their e-muscles.

"Neiner Neiner NEEEEIIIINER.. this is my server and i do what i want" is at best a juvenile power trip. If i get renamed without being consulted at least, i'll drop this server like a bad habit.

EDIT : i went and took a look at the naming rules, and i'm confused:

§4.1 You may not use any names that violate the General Conduct. This includes the use of names that are hateful, defamatory, racist, ethnically offensive, obscene, vulgar, sexually explicit, or any other language that is offensive in nature and of course senseless ones.
§4.2 You may not use names of a staffmember or names that are related to a staffmember.
§4.3 You may not use names that are religiously or historically significant.
§4.4 You may not use names that refer to drugs or that are drug related.
§4.5 You may not use names where a combination of the first and last names violate any of the above rules.
§4.6 You may not use misspellings or alternative spellings of names that violate any of the above rules.
§4.7 We reserve the right, to force everyone to a change of the charactername, if we determine it as unappropriate. If you violate these rules, we will contact you. You have the chance to chose a new name for your character. Send an e-Mail to nayru[at]uthgard.de with a choice of names. We will then decide which name will be chosen. If none of your suggestion fits, we will chose a new name for you. You have no right of getting that name changed again. Characters of low levels are usually not renamed.
§4.8 Names of characters and guilds will not be changed unless they violate the rules.



Please, point out how their names in any way violated the rules? seems like there are some abusive GMs around... the last rule clearly states names won't be changed unless they violate the rules, and nothing about Laserzpewpew violates any of the afore mentioned rules. Nor does Punkisnotdead!

And what the hell is with the "low level characters won't be renamed" BS, so you wait until someone has invested a lot of time before you screw them over????? lol. ridiculous. I almost want to quit just because of that...

That's the beauty of a free server supported by volunteer staff. The staff can do whatever they want, they owe you nothing and there´s nothing you can do about it except quit. Keeps things simple, you know.

My friend got jailed for Cameltoe Annie, named after a character in Conan O'Brian show. However, on live there was a dude called Muff Diver for a loong time. Since it was Euro server, all the GMs and support were French and they didnt know what it meant

back then when I got renamed it was normal to go to jail until you picked a new name, I decided to keep my minstrel in jail forever as a protest but I got renamed

Oh and we also had different rules and my name broke the rule that names cannot be

It is some kind of definition what low level character means. If we find a character named "Isuckc*cks" e.g. which level is under 10 we will not take actions by asking politely for another name, changing our database and so on. They will get deleted at once.

I have no issues with deleting or renaming chars that have obviously offensive names, if you're dumb enough to purposely name your char something offensive you deserve what you get...

My issue is with Laserzpewpew and Punkisnotdead... there is absolutely no way to take offence o either of these names, and jailing them is outrageous...

And yes, it is flexing your e-muscles if you take time out of your day, to do somehting the previous post says is no easy task, to change and or ban someone with an obviously unoffensive name, and to even risk database corruption...

This is what i refer to as abusive.. and obviously had something to do with personal feeling towards those players in specific....a.b.u.s.i.v.e.

Maybe i'm missing something, can any staff member say why Laserzpewpew or Punkisnotdead is offensive enough to warrant a so-called "risky" database change, ban, or deletion?
