Zippity you're blowing it out of proportions.. Totally.
First of all, buff shears do not affect just a niche of DAoC's RvR gameplay, like volley would. It fully affects DAoC's RvR gameplay, since it's a change to vital classes in any group setup. Not only that, it's also adding depth to that gameplay, not just 'improving x or y class' because they 'need' it. In fact, they don't really need it, it just adds to the depth and imo quality of RvR, where the implementation regarding volley does NOT. Another thing, Nayru never said they were going to customise RAs, just keep the buffshears IF they switch back to 1.65, it's a clear statement by the devs and they said why, just as good as they said why this is circling inside the thinktank in the first place. I think even in the OP. About the things u're pointing out, you're just exaggerating and overreacting, again. For instance; If you've read the OF thread you'll notice that the Uthgard staff (represented by Blue) might thinkg of using it, AFTER they tried what they feel is possible and needed to make the Agramong RvR setting working after all. It's not all as clear as you say it is, not to mention points 2, 3 and 6 are just plain ridiculous. It seems to me that you can't stand Uthgard staff doing what they feel is right to create a server wielding a fun, non-easymode classic concept, which can only be achieved by customising certain features or exceeding their patch limit in some rare cases. You make this look like an act of blasphemy to Uthgard's DAoC because everyone will ask changes for the sake of balance (while in reality they want a class boost), which you automaticly think will be implemented because the community whines and devs will give in. Well, if you think that way, it's clear that you have no trust in the staff.. at all. Which is a shame, because they DO intend the best for their server and see trough most if not all cries for nerfs/love that don't have the right intentions. |

I thought i made it clear that my "examples" were just mock..i.e not serious, but just to be used to illustrate the kind of information people might want. I dont think its too hard to ask for clarity on what the server's future will be nor for some consistancy. As people have mentioned before, one becomes very nervous when things are ambiguous and not consistant. Why would someone choose to play on a server where at any point in time, based on someone's personal bias/whim, something will get changed? I dont think its too hard to ask for some form of guarantee, one way or another , that x,y,z will or wont happen when it comes to certain game mechanics. If people at least know where these issues stand to begin wiht, they can make informed decisions as whether or not to stay on uthgard or move on to other things. That would at least demonstrate some direction for the server and boost confidence in that.

Ehhhhhh... I'm gonna have to lean toward Zippity's defense on this one. As I've stated already, the reason I left Mythic's Live servers after playing for a few years straight was because of the constant nerf-fest, and then readjust, and then nerf again of the classes. When I say it was constant, it was CONSTANT. The inconsistencies in the posts as Zip mentions DOES set the stage for concern that we may see the same thing here. Will Uthgard and staff be better at the balancing act than Mythic was? Perhaps. But I for one can say I won't stick around if the same thing happens here. Neither will the friends and family I guided over to the game. There is little that is more frustrating than grinding for MONTHS to get your character the way you like it, only to have it's class crippled or made useless by love to other classes across the battle line. Leave the classes alone. If you want to re-introduce old RAs in addition to the ones that exist, fine. ![]() Bottom line is, the classes that will benefit from the old RAs want the old RAs... the classes that will benefit from keeping the new RAs want the new RAs to stay. Just like Mythic Live. You want to balance the RAs? Offer both and let the players spec as they please. My nickel's worth of 2 cents... Hope it helps ![]() |

On a side note: if you are going for 1,65, Agramon was not introduced yet. I am not sure when NF was introduced, but I have a feeling it was also after 1.65.

You seem to be forgetting that Mythic intentionally brought OPed classes with expansions only to nerf them after they had their money earned from everyone that wanted to have such an 'attractive' class, even while it was not necessary because some xpacs just made the older versions of the game so unable to compete that there was simply no way around them. Uthgard doesn't need to do this, therefore it will do what it feels is best for the servers balance. Like it or not, some classes still are not balanced on Uthgard and will of course face more modifications and customisations, just look at the animist. Some features were correct but nerfed, some features were uncorrect, but corrected, however the correct way was a nerf. You can't really expect the staff to let all unintended bugs that make classes more powerful than they are just in the game because people want to play the character "like it was when they started it". Yes it is perhaps easier for the community to have a list with the classes that are 'working as intended' in the current balance setting and ones that 'might have to expect modifications' to fit in better. However I don't think the staff has the time to sort all of this out, but that aside, I don't think it's easy to determine which class will need to be altered in the future. Uthgard is still fully under development, it is NOT a final state like devs have said before. Yes it makes it somewhat unclear, and maybe even unreliable, but that's what you're going to have to keep in mind while playing here. You can't ask the staff to give you guarantees on a work in progress imo. Clearly picturing the guaranteed future of the server is not as easy as it sounds, they can only say what they're working on and what they're thinking of, like they did. I'm sure they will announce what changes are going to be implemented when they are sure that they are going to do so. As long as they aren't sure, all they can do is be honest with us and tell us what they are thinking of, creating indeed an unclear atmosphere. However, this is to prevent situations where as you say: your character becomes worthless overnight. Which is why I'm happy that they have at least informed us before they implement Old RAs. However, I will agree that some changes, even in the best interest of the server, might better be informed before they go in effect. Though if you look at patches in almost any game, they implement it first and then give a patch note with it, not give the patch note, listen to the customers and re-edit it like they feel the community wants it. Which might be a better but way more controversial and effort and time consuming way.
As I said, classes are still actually under development. You can't expect them to leave the classes as they are, the way they are now. That would be just ridiculous for some of them. About your RA proposal, I really don't see how that would ever work in an organised, balanced way. Maybe just passives, yes, but still... It would be such a huge customisation to both Old and New RAs that it's impossible do take 2 steps without getting a ton of whining about it. Talking about opening a can of worms, sorry but I think this is one of the worst solutions to the current issue. |

Agreed. And I commend them for being as open in their thought process as they have been. Not all devs take the views of the players into account as much as these folks do and, of course, we all appreciate being part of the discussion.
Eh, it was only an idea. For good or bad, I had to throw it out there as another option no one has discussed yet. Nothing says we need all the old RAs added to the new RAs, but even you had to admit adding the old passives may work. It's just another thing to think about. Instead of EITHER this way OR that way, take the best of both and let the players choose what they want to use. Again, it was just a thought. Maybe it would cause more trouble than it solves... so discard at will. ![]() ***Quick edit: When I said "leave the classes alone" I was talking about the 1.65 roll back, not the need to further tweak the classes here and there for balance. I know some classes still need some work, but rolling everything back to 1.65 just seems like the wrong way to go entirely. . |

Craftable, no. Maybe as event rewards sometime in future. Horses are difficult for the classic look of the server. So these are borderline features. Saddlebags, maybe.

@Blue , What do you plan on doing with the server now , it seems lately your on a classic look binge and seem to be messing up the server even more , there's even more bugs lately then there has been in the past , I want to play someplace enjoyable but it seems you don't want us to enjoy the server anymore.
I've seen more and more people leave the server for other games , because something upset them , like the removal of Hulks in DF , farming Diamond seals was some peoples only way of earning cash. Now that's messed up , and it was one of the best xp spots in the game , now it takes even longer to lvl up a char. Hasteners , why remove them? Did it really take that much away from classic or make a class so op'd they had to be removed? No. Moran/Belil nerfs , why do we all get punished for the few , leave it how it was , it wasn't broken , let people farm them over n over again so that everyone has a chance at a decent item , it doesn't screw up game balance at all. General sweeping tampering of all zones drop rates/xp/baf , why? I love Uthgard , I love classic rvr , hate old ra's , but if infi's/sb's/ns's get IP i'm gone |

Server Goals are made by who the majority of the players or a few individuals? The server has been thru a lot , I just wish it would've stayed the way it was 6 mos ago , and then maybe add some things to make it better and fine tune classes (ie Rangers)
I've played live Since Sep 01 , I've been thru a lot w/ this game , what ruined it for me was ToA and NF anything before that was fine , I even like new RA's since they actually even out the classes more then Old RA's. I'm just letting you know of the player consensus around me and what I'm seeing and hearing from the players in mid and alb. Server goals are set in stone for years. We had some excursions for pleasure inbetween while developing the server but the major goal stays to get DAoC as it once was online. Server goals are not set by players but creators. It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

Any thought on decreasing the resist rate on this server? It's horrid. I've never seen so many resists in all my years playing DAoC until joining this server. I'll donate to help fix the terrible resists that are happening. Give some love to mages and such. Please.

Whatever is causing 95% of your North American users to go Link Dead every 30 minutes. (I do not consider switching internet providers on my side a legitimate "fix") |
