When you see a "X" class what makes them amazing?

On Uth 1.0 I played a merc, I am thinking about trying another desirable class @ RvR, but I want to be sure that I don't over extend myself to a class which may not be my style or requires a skill set I just may not have.
Classes I am thinking about are: Minstrel Theurg Cleric Sorc What do these classes need to be able to do in PvE/RvR to be desirable in every group that they step in? Also, Necromancer wasn't on Uth 1.0 - is this a pure PvE/Solo RvR class? Quick breakdown of what it is like in 1.65 version? Theurg suffer from xp loss due to using pets or do his pets not counter as "pets" as far as xp penalty goes? Hib - Falken (BM) / Sneakster (NS) / Kalfen (Enchanter) - Currently Inactive

What do these classes need to be able to do in PvE/RvR to be desirable in every group that they step in?
Do you mean their spec and role, or do you mean how they are played by the person behind them? Necro is generally a PvE or maybe solo RvR class. However... at least some groups will try to use it for it's massive AF debuff and it's Painworking dots that interrupt each tick, unlike conventional dots. However as a Necro you have to deal with mostly negatives that stem from your pet being treated like a mob in RvR. It doesn't get mez immune like a player etc. There are a few benefits, like the pet cannot be mezzed after its below 80% health (or whatever that threshold is for mobs where they are "enraged"). Theurgists do suffer losses, however the most your pets should be able to take from you if you were soloing would be 50% of the exp (according to old grab bags). That being said, Theurgists are highly valued in XP groups for PBT so you should a) group and b) be casting few pets. If you go solo, it's better to play as either Air for the strong nuke or Ice for the base nuke and maybe summon a single ice pet to snare between your nukes. A single ice pet wouldn't take anywhere close to 50% of your exp, as it's based on the % of damage it did to the mob. I'll try to answer the question at the top tomorrow if you provide some clarification ![]() Nezix - 50 Minstrel <The Band>

How they are played. Responsibilities in rvr I guess. Can any of them RvR and PvE in the same spec? Most specs typically didn't seem to translate very well into both categories. Hib - Falken (BM) / Sneakster (NS) / Kalfen (Enchanter) - Currently Inactive

All of the classes you listed are usually played with the same specc for PvE and RvR.
Minstrel 50 Instruments 44 Thrust (if you can handle the level 5-48 auto train) or 50 Instruments 39 Slash Realm Abilites: Purge + Speed of Sound PvE: Melee Damage Dealer with Absorb Song Running or Power Regeneration with occasional Shout Damage + CC on Adds if needed RvR: Front Line Rupt - SOS Timing - Pet Handling Cleric 44 Enhancement 33 Rejuvenation or 35 Enhancement 41 Rejuvenation Realm Abilites: Purge + Bunker of Faith + Mystical Crystal Lore RvR and PvE: Buff up your group and keep everyone alive. Theurgist 47 Earth 24 Ice PvE: PBT + Earth Pet Spam during tough encounters or just PBT RvR: Helping out the Sorc with Roots, Earth + Wind Pet on their Casters and Supporters, Haste Debuff on their Melees Sorcerer 46 Mind 28 Body PvE: Power Regen BoT - CC on Adds RvR: Main CCler, keep the enemy group debuffed, occasional nukes to finish of targets Those are just some variants of speccs I enjoy running, there are alot of other viable ones. For more insight on classes you can use http://www.uthgard.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=33670, you just have to ignore all the trash talk directed to Nef Cait ![]() You can always watch a RvR PoV on Youtube to get a brief overview about what other players are doing on what class. Pve: mincer and sorc are mainly pom bots for manaregen. theurg is mainly pbt bot that can buff da/haste buff to melees and spam pets for raid bosses. cleric heal and buff the group. overall in pve clerics and theurgs are more desired as mincer/sorcs. rvr: theurg and mincer are mainly rupt chars. sorc is mainly cc class and secondary rupter/debuff assist nuker. cleric main heal and buffer. overall sorcs and clerics are more desired as mincer followed by theurg. also keep in mind the casters sorc and theurg are harder to play followed by mincer and cleric. overall if u want a char that is highly desired in all kinds of setups for pve and rvr and also isnt too hard to be decently played pick a cleric. |

Necros are going to be game changers in 8v8 trust me, especially tank groups. They are like they were on Live pre-nerf, and as soon as a couple of groups realized what they did and started using them, they nerfed the ****** out of them. Ask Telus, they were one of the first groups to use them on classic.

The merc in that video isn't manually weapon swapping! I want that!!! He looks like he is just tearing it up and soloing people... Hib - Falken (BM) / Sneakster (NS) / Kalfen (Enchanter) - Currently Inactive

He's using /swap - which was never a realm thing on Live, and just a custom server thing that came pre-packaged with the DoL code. It won't be on Uthgard. Nezix - 50 Minstrel <The Band>
