for all the stealther QQers, it is not impossible to play an archer with the old ra system, but take a look!

I am a big fan of Lukiel vids. I watched them when they first came out. They are what inspired me to roll a Hunter.
Some things to remember:
Obviously these vids are very old. Lukiel 3 is the only post-ToA vid I think. The other 2 vids are much older than that.
This means that a lot of his targets are low RR, have no SC, and are noobs in the most Classic sense of the word. For example, I don't think Lukiel gets poison-spammed in any of his videos when fighting assassins. Some of the assassins do weapon swap, but they do it slowly and they don't spam dots. [Edit: It looks like he gets poison-spammed in Lukiel 3. He loses this fight even after burning a perfect IP] Casters are slow to react, and their healers are even slower. He takes anywhere from 5-8 seconds to kill some of these casters and the healers do NOTHING. In other words this is the perfect environment for archers to play in, and not something we can expect on Uthgard.
Second, like any RvR video the author can choose which fights go in and which fights get cut. We have no way of knowing from these videos how successful Lukiel really was. We get some good fights (he even manages to beat some buff-botted assassins with only his self-buffs, which is awesome), but you can't look at these videos and say 'this is how it will be for archers on Uthgard.'
It was a different time, with different players using different equipment.

sorry but i dont believe that the scenes in this video will be the fututre for
uthgard hunters (archers). Hunters will get a lot of PA´s wiht OLD Ras. And dieing a lot to Assasins.
maybe if we get a lot of people trying to find xp in the frontiers, archer can get some rps from these guys. but for the most part i believe the archer solo game ist over.
Well every 30mins we can click truesight and be usefull in a stealthgrp, so we have to adjust our playstyle
i guess we will see some of the high rr rangers with old ras. but less scouts and hunter that we have atm (and there only few)

People should still watch these videos. The editing is the best I've seen in a DAoC video and the music is fantastic.
If you want to watch these videos with the music track, you can find them here:

One thing you can notice from these vids:
Lukiel's range when he has a height advantage is huge. The height bonus for bows on Uthgard may not be implemented correctly.

You can also split the video into parts

in a lot of fights u see the hunter pet follow enemys in stealth and pop them out of stealth. I rember this was pretty common in the past for all pets.
will this be possible again with 1.69?

no, this is a "custom bugfix" the staff has made.. this was done even before it was done on live
(just to make the timeline clear as some people don't seem to understand this: )
first: Live + uth: Pets follow players in stealth
second: Uth: Pets don't follow players in stealth
third: Live: pets don't follow players in stealth

I think that was changed before 1.69.
And anyway, the staff treated this as a bug. Apparently it was fixed on Uthgard before Live.
Which is unfortunate because this 'bug' was what gave the Hunter a unique advantage in the stealth war. Scouts had shield, Rangers were just good over-all, and the Hunter had a stealth-tracking pet.
