If you have problems with your MTU Settings (Failing to load a zone, Instead of characters in the load screen only "Upper Text", ...), you may try this tool I've written. It analyzes your connection for the optimal MTU value and sets it if required.
Download! Note 1: Microsoft .NET 2.0 is required Note 2: I take no guarantee that this won't mess up your Internet connection, so use this at your own risk. Worked for me fine though. Be nice. :)

Around 1:30AM EST last night I was disconnected from Xbox Live.
I went into the troubleshooter on the console, and it told me that there was a problem with my MTU (not set at 1394). I opened my router configuration and confirmed it was set to auto. Tried again, did not work. I manually set the MTU to both 1394 and 1500, did not work. I forwarded the ports that xbox recommends, did not work. About the only thing I have not done at this point is 1. Set the xbox on the DMZ and 2. Connected xbox directly to cable modem. I decided to check out the xbox support forum, and at least 20 other people seem to have the problem. So, I'd like to know if anyone else is having the issue. It also seems that most of the people with the issue have Time Warner cable as their ISP as well. A few people with the issue say that they are able to connect to Xbox live if they disconnect their router and hook up the 360 directly to the cable modem. This is not an option for me. |
