Hi there,
First of all, thanks to everyone involved for the lovely evening.
It was an up and down at the Hibs, after DC some people logged out frustrated and it was very difficult for us to motivate a few people again.

What was the reason for this:
The volley of the scouts !!!
As a caster you have no chance to survive an assist of 5 scouts of the volley.
This has been going on for a long time and nothing is being changed. It is known that the bow system is Bugy and that it is in urgent need of repair.
A quick possibility would be to deactivate the command / GT Assist (whether it is a solution ........). This would not only affect the Archer but also other classes, so no one should feel richly disadvantaged.
I just wanted to address that once and there may be a solution to the problem.
Write here what moves you or how we should approach some things differently.

Hi Rudra,

GT Assist is maybe the only way to encounter the hib shroom stacks. So that would be a very bad solution ;)

Hi there,

I understand that it is difficult to fight the fungus. But the problem I see that a Necro in shadow form goes into the tower and puts Gt's. Or other characters that can disguise themselves.
Everyone has the chance to create their own Gt.
I also had something else in mind, it will be harder for even the most difficult to get high keeps because one player usually gives the Gt and everyone assists.
Midgard players also take keeps without GT assist and even when animists are in keep.
As I said, it is only a suggestion, you can discuss a lot.

When beeing hit by Volley it/you should atleast make a sound that you got hit by it, leave alone an animation of beeing hit.

Volley should not damage a target with a roof/cover above them.... There should be a counter to remain safe from a volley. IE: get under cover.

Arrows going into/through structures (or walls) is not very realistic.

GT spells on the other hand is fine and if 5 earth wizzies wanted to use the same tactic with a necro setting the GT cool, although the range of the GT spell is not going to match the volley range so its not nearly as bad.

I recently added the target effect and sound when I looked at volley cooldown/reuse.

I know what you mean. But keep in mind that this game is not about being realistic but how it mechanics and skills should work based on the original Mythic design. If there was a LOS check for the volley target back in the day I am happy to try making this work on Uthgard as well.

Hi there,
I think I know where Ebbie is getting at.
Gtaes are triggered exactly where they were placed.
Volley too, but if the arrow doesn't find a target, it will smash through the ceilings and floors.
Unfortunately, I don't know whether this was what Mythic intended.

Hello Genjiro,

I extensively researched volley many years ago during the initial implementation.
Unfortunately, the effects and sounds you added are not the correct behavior for this skill as of the patch level for the server. During that time period, volley did not have a special sound effect, and it did not have a special area of effect animation showing where arrows are landing on the ground. FYI, volley passing through walls etc using ground target commands was a correct behavior as of the pre new frontiers patch level. Please see my primary source material located on my website

We are well beyond sticking to a certain patch level. See the animist nerfs, or det3 voor certain classes.

Archery still has the double tap bug afaik. Not sure if you make a sound now if you get hit by volley. If you don't pay attention it still feels like you'd insta died.

People always ask for positive changes to their classes and nerfs for the other realms. The Thundra ra comes to mind. That took way too long te get fixed and all the Mids where saying it's fine, working like intended.

If you want a better server, make it better for everyone. Not just you. Atleast some Hibs did their part, when it came to LOS issues and animists.

Filters was sarcastic. As for Tundra RA, nothing was wrong with it, crying got it "fixed". If Tundra was nerfed, then regular style damage should have been nerfed as well. On this patch level and with old RAs, almost any melee class can 2 shot a caster, especially armsmen/warriors/heroes with 2h weps. Two major reasons for this are lack of divine intervention and physical defense as a RA.

People who took screenshots from Tundra damage did not have their AF charge up 90% of the time, some were not templated or even 50. In order to land Tundra for that type of damage you need to basically have to do the following:

- spend 10 points for the actual RA
- make sure it's not blocked or absorbed by a bubble
- go vendo mode and hope for a maximum crit (the crit can also be 1 damage, even though the vendo mode gives u a chance of a maximum one).

Considering the re-use timer, it's not even a good ability. Flump took it for ****** and giggles and people cried. The funniest thing about it was that people actually implied fights were won because of this.

I wouldn't even take it if I played zerker, Flump also took it for fun. If anyone thinks this ability was broken, just go look at those screenshots. Keep in mind, these were early stages of the server, some of those people were not templated and 90% of the time they did not have AF charge up.

Regardless. Log your hero/armsman/warrior, use the slowest possible weapon and use your high growth rate styles that are positionals or say maximum 2nd in a chain so we don't overdo it, duel a caster from your realm and compare the damage with Tundra. Then after that take into consideration that if you spend 10 points on a style you can use once every 10 mins, it obviously needs to be stronger than any normal style + you go vendo mode which allows you to get max crits in RvR. Again, style can be absorbed by a bubble or blocked by a guard tank. Considering you need to use an active ability, spend 10 points to use something every 10 minutes, the damage difference isn't all that big compared to some Armsman anytime pole styles when they hit casters. Difference in damage itself between a style you need to spend realm points for and use every 10 mins and between a strong positional that you can S - P - A - M wasn't THAT big, but the vendo mode made its dmg potential nice. But crying on forum always works, that's why uth1 got wiped and that's how 90% of ****** changes got introduced. It is what it is.

Ok, the state of the server is what it is, but when there was action, people were forced to run 2 bards, 3 healers etc. Midgard is also forced to use a skald on a patch level where skalds just suck. On uth1 skalds were significantly stronger, like 10x more beneficial to the group and best groups still didn't run them. I mean, it is what it is. People who cry on forum will almost always find an excuse not to RvR, whether it's realm ranks, RAs or whatever. I know a few who have been whining for years, they got several fresh servers to play on and were still not able to compete in any way. It's always something. In theory, old RAs might work if there is a lot of inc and people don't always have stuff up, otherwise it's kinda rough.

Edit: Your whole wall of text just marks you out that you don't have a clue about how RvR works. Take down any player you want and it's curtains. You can buy my old cluepons I left somewhere in 2003.

Any chance you can provide some real evidence and comparisons instead of being emotional?

Log a rr5 hero/armsman/warrior/zerker (yes, Flump was rr5 then). Do your best positional style on casters in a duel with a weapon that's around 5.8 (Dragonstorm that Flump used) and see what kind of damage can you deal with one hit. Again, a lot of those people didn't have AF charge up. When you see what the damage is, add a 100% crit on top of that because zerkers can do that in vendo mode.

Good positional styles don't do much less damage to casters than Tundra did, the difference being you can SPAM those styles, and you can use Tundra once every 10 mins and you have spend 10 realm points for it (that's pain3 or aom3 which give u permanent passive value for those points). Again, Tundra itself is nothing special, but combined with a very lucky crit in vendo mode, it had that potential.

I'm not saying styles should do that much damage, I'm just saying all the crying about Tundra was really not justified. Back then there was plenty of action, you didn't even have it on every inc. Only a dishonest person or someone who breaks down emotionally cause of this nonsense can claim it was a rule and that this was the reason people were winning fights etc. I've seen Flump's group explode plenty of times against a caster group within 15-20 secs too, because anything other than a close side inc or landing on top of them from the hill is 50% fight won for a decent caster group. People can selectively pick anything they want and make any kind of argument, so a debate is pointless.

Tundra or not, if you play any decent DPS class, you can basically 2 shot casters easily if u get a nice crit with an anytime style, so dunno why all the fuss about something that costs ra points, is usable every 10 mins, can be blocked or absorbed and u have to pop vendo mode too to use it. Again, this is mostly due to no physical defense and no DI.

Old RAs and this patch level are just like that by default, there is very little balance. I mean, BOF is insanely overpowered, considering u have 2 in group and it costs only 10 points. SOS is also pretty strong and kinda ridiculous how it works, but there is no point whining about it.

You're the one who's been crying on forum for 10 years about high rrs, this and that. I joined in 2011. and didn't complain, worked my way up and had fun. Plenty of people who joined in 2012. and 2013. also got to decent rr within 6-8 months and were very competitive so high rrs were not the problem :D. I take the game for what it is.
