Any reason to make a Kobold over a Troll skald? Thinking the STR puts Troll over the top, but am open to suggestions.

Troll. The str bonus is just really hard to give up. Skalds don't really get a beefy melee damage table. Being able to go troll for that truckton of starting strength is such a saving grace....

Cool, I wasn't sure if a high quick kobold could keep up or not damage wise.

I too would pick a troll but in defense of kobold the skald's biggest nemesis is getting rooted/mezzed out of the fight. A kobold is a little tougher to find and click on.

Kobold for speed attack ? Better to hit 2 X 250 than 1 X 350

It's easy to follow a troll in frontiers and really hard to scape because can be seen from really far away.
Which starting attributes as kobold?
What about dwarf?
It's the thrill of the chase

Yeah I'm leaning towards a Dwarf for a Skald, but I'm probably going to be running solo most of the time due to RL commitments. My justification is that they have +5% body resist; all assassin poisons/debuffs are body type as well as Minstrel instas, and the Champion insta is too I think. If I'm also not mistaken, mezz is body type so should have a better chance of resisting them too. Chain is also weak to thrust type damage, and Dwarf has +3% in that. With the +10 con too, they should in theory be a bit (emphasis on 'a bit') harder to take down for most of the other soloing classes out there. They are of course tiny in comparison to a Troll too, going back to the other comments about not attracting attention. So yeah, that's my rationale behind a Dwarf Skald!

In all honesty, I don't think any of the races are bad for a Skald. Just depends on your play style. If you want a Kobold, make a Kobold!

EDIT: My original mezz comment is false. Reduces duration by 5%, not resist chance.

5%more body will lower dmg and mezz time by 5%.Your chance to resist the spell is not influenced by that.

some days ago i tested all race for skald and the end result is : troll

dwarf is small and maybe harder to target and have that 5% body but lack 40 STR compared to trolls and that means a lot of DPS.
and troll have 5% matter which can be usefull as well against DoTs.

and about kobold, you will just gimp yourself . unless you go for the look which can be a good reason but stats wise it is not.

higher dex give you very small amount of parry chance and higher quickness is not that great , you can test swing speed modifiers yourself here :

15STR/10CHA is ok but i don't like loosing 5pts
being an hybrid you ll end at around 1500hp , so 10CON is around 2.5%(35hp)
but for min/maxeur yeah maybe 15STR.

I also don't like losing the 5 points. for me the last 10 is either con or dex or 5pts str but the difference must be pretty negligable between the 3 I suppose
